Gives You the Choice of Bake, Convection, Broil or Rotisserie
Don't want to heat up the entire kitchen or slave away over a hot burner? No sweat – the Hamilton Beach Countertop Oven provides extra capacity for second oven convenience as well as four ways to cook: BAKE, CONVECTION, BROIL and ROTISSERIE.
A 9"x13" baking pan can be found in most kitchens in North America, used for making everything from lasagna to brownies. Not only does this oven fit two 9"x13" pans at once, unlike conventional ovens without convection technology, the Countertop Oven with Convection and Rotisserie comes fully equipped. Instead of having heat come from just one central area and no fan to "stir-up" or circulate air evenly all over, this oven's convection technology utilizes a top and bottom heating element and a built-in fan to distribute heat evenly for a uniform temperature. That way, bakers can choose between traditional baking – ideal for cupcakes, cakes and soft baked goods – or convection baking – ideal for a crispy pizzas, cookies or even taquitos. Use the rotisserie feature for roasted chicken, beef roast or pork roast. Note: Only upper heating elements will be on during the rotisserie mode.
TIPS & CARE
Before cooking with the oven, always PREHEAT for approximately 5 minutes. Check pan manufacturer's directions for oven-safe rating. Do not cover the crumb/drip tray or any part of the oven in aluminum foil (causes overheating); however, use of aluminum foil to partially cover casseroles or some foods is acceptable. Visit foodsafety. gov for more safe cooking temperature information.
The full-width crumb/drip tray slides out from the front, allowing easy washing. For the best oven performance, cleaning should be done regularly. Unplug first and allow oven to cool before interior and exterior cleaning. For interior cleaning: wipe oven walls, bottom tray and glass door with a damp, soapy cloth, but do not scratch or damage heating element tube. Repeat with a damp, clean cloth. All removable parts should be hand washed in warm, soapy water as well. For stubborn interior stains, use a plastic scouring pad. For exterior cleaning: wipe oven walls with a damp cloth, but do not use abrasive cleansers or metal scouring pads; this can scrape/scratch the surface.

Addendum: I have had this oven for 3 months now and haven't used my regular oven since getting it. I am very pleased with it. The only thing I can think of that would make it better would be a light in the oven.
The feature that impressed me the most was the accuracy of the temp setting knob. During my two hour long test I used a precise mercury bulb oven thermometer Excellante Liquid Oven Thermometer, 100 to 600 Degrees Fahrenheit. After learning how to use the dial markings I found the oven temp increased to the exact set temperature and thereafter only fluctuated to 15 degrees above the setting, whenever the elements turned on again. The temp never dropped below the set temp as long as the door remained closed. It was important to use the dial position markings correctly, since turning the pointer to the etched numbers does not work. As shown in the photo the correct position is at the end of the marked line, just before the etched temp number. I tested this at all marked settings and the results were highly accurate. All tests were done with convection on.
I am pleased with this oven and would recommend it to anyone needing a substitute for a range oven. The convection feature keeps the hot internal air circulating which eliminates hot spots. The quality of construction is good and the included accessories are not flimsy.
I have been using it for close to 5 years and am mostly happy with this product.
As for baking cakes and banana bread, my advice is to use one bake pan at a time. I had done it with 2 9" rounds one time and forgot to rotate (up and down, can't be side by side) so one was brown and the other white on the top. I also baked a regular loaf with a 6 cup-cake pan side by side. The cup cake will get done much faster and the loaf, because of the depth, takes almost double the time on the recipe to get done.
The heat loss is inevitable. The door is not sealed and the glass front both contribute to the heat loss. I always use a higher temp and long time than what the recipe requires to get it done.
The timer knob sort of stops function if you want it to be 5 minutes or less. Now I set it at 10 minute mark to combine with a timer for very short baking time. The knobs are still good, none is stuck or broken.
To concur other reviewers, do be careful. this thing gets HOT and can burn you VERY EASILY.
I am giving it a second chance hopefuly it will be good! I will update the item once I get to test the new one arriving on Tuesday 😀fMake sure to read the directions for preheating this oven this is the problem i had before i discovered rhe right way to do it
I will update when i get it working correctly!
