I gave my partner a hard time when she told me she wanted an air fryer for Christmas because she's got enough kitchen gadgets. I thought to get one on the more economical side because I didn't know if it would become one of those "under the counter" gadgets like our waffle maker. I was wrong and this thing is incredible. The food from it is crisp, it heats evenly, I'm shocked with how easy it is to use and clean. When this one gives out on us or we need a bigger one I'll seriously consider getting another Hamilton Beach.

I use this almost every day!!! I make everything from hot sandwiches to pork chops to veggies in my air fryer. The only issue I have is the outer basket's paint has starter to chip with washing it.

Edit: We've had this for about 6 months now, we are using it at least once a week. The paint is coming off significantly but we still use it. Line the bottom with foil if you know there will be a lot of fat drippings. Still a great purchase even if the paint chips. We will probably buy another when the time comes.

In the week since my “fryer” arrived, I’ve made crispy chicken pea snacks (20 minutes and 88 cents for a can, versus $4.89 readymade, cheaper if I make them by cooking my own dried peas), and roasted some pecans, much better than a frying pan or microwave, no burnt ones. It’s not really a fryer, it’s a convection oven, but it takes up much less counter space than a convection toaster oven and it’s easier to shake the items being cooked. I’ll try toasting a single slice of frozen bread next. For a one person kitchen, it’s a brilliant addition.

If the buttons worked, and if it actually was non stick, it would be just ok

Returning because the buttons only work after numerous times pushing them, so it arrived broken. At first I thought it was learning curve, alas no. So instead of pushing three times, it takes fifteen to twenty times. The fast cook buttons do not work at all. The exterior basket has two very sharp edges on either side that would cut or puncture if you are not very careful when hand washing. I cooked a few items and found that frozen fried (already pre oiled and coated with unhealthy stuff) items cook fairly well, however with fresh foods need more time and tending than if just using the oven. The manual is limited, with no recipes. It is very difficult to clean, not what I consider to be non-stick at all. In fact more difficult to clean than regular pans and no matter how much I attempt to clean, without scrubbing with abrasive, there still seems to be a layer of breading still sticking.

We received this air fryer on June 5th and at first it worked very well, food came out great, it was easy to use, we were happy. Then suddenly it began turning itself off randomly. Eventually the LED display stopped working, but it would still work, the food would cook, though my girlfriend thought she noticed a drop in quality of the finished food. We used it today as normal and it set off the fire alarm, which really confused us because there was very little smoke and the fries were very burnt. Long story short, its barely been two months and now we have to get rid of it, which sucks because when it worked it was pretty good.

This model is a little to “baby proofed” for adults

The fryer itself is great — no complaints. It heats up quick and is pretty easy to clean.

The main issues I have with this fryer is it’s excessive “baby proofing” beyond normal or even practical.

1) the power cord is only 11” long (less then 1ft). This extremely limits where you can place, and use this fryer in your kitchen. Their reasoning for this short cord is so no one pulls on the slack of a long cord and pulls the fryer off the counter. I get it, but isn’t that why there’s a magnetic port?

2) the magnetic power port. I get it’s purpose, it’s the same as the one for the extremely short power cord, but in my opinion this is just redundant and even further limits where you can use this fryer. For example you can’t apply any tension to the power cord to properly place the fryer on the counter. Not everyone’s power outlet is located in an area 11” from the countertop. So now extension cords are needed — more unsafe.

3) the insanely low oil “maximum”. Based on the square inches of the oil bin, adding 2 liters of oil — also to their Max level indicator — only covers about 20% of the bottom of the basket when placed in the fryer. Again, going way over the top for safety. You can only cook maybe the equivalent of a McDonald’s medium fry amount at a time. The oil sits more then 70% below the top of the bin. This is just overkill. I put 3.5 liters in and have been safely using that amount for about a month now. Now almost the entire basket submerges — as it should.

Based on this fryers size compared to their maximum oil levels, it’s just not worth it. If you are cooking for a family, you’d have to fry each sidedish individually at their levels.

4) lastly.. No power button?!?! This is just crazy. So unless you physically unplug the fryer, it will always stay on and heating. This by far is the least safe thing I’ve ever seen. It’s quite easy to take out the basket of food and start plating and place the basket into the sink and completely forget about the fryer. Not only that, but now you have to reach over and behind the 375c oil to reach the insanely short plug to unplug it. No clue what they were thinking with that design. Maybe they assume we all have large kitchen islands that we can easily walk around?

So basically I’ve had to add an extension cord, apply duct tape to the magnetic port to keep it in, add 1.5 more liters of oil, and use a smart-switch in the outlet to manually turn the fryer on and off.

Some people will appreciate all these safety options; while others will not. So this long review is to advise people about what they’re in store for with this fryer that they don’t tell you. T-fal fryers don’t take this “baby proofing” approach to this unnecessary level; just an FYI.

It’s all about balance.
Keep your pet monkey out of the kitchen while frying.

Great if you are cooking for one. Oil capacity is low (but I do fill past the max fill line so it's not a huge deal for me since the max fill line does seem a bit overcautious considering the size of the thing) which means you can't fry a lot. It heats up very quickly compared to the t-fals I've had over the years and it recovers from having frozen things dropped in it quite quickly as well. The sides stay cool enough that I can pick up the fryer (there are two little indents made for holding the thing) and store it away in the shed right after use.

It is a great fryer imo but it is missing a major feature - a timer.

Also the lid is removable but a bit hard to get the vent clean, so smells will sometimes linger in there after complete oil changes for a fry or two.

In regards to the lettering rubbing off: only the push here to close bit on the lid has come off and it was pretty ugly there anyway. The rest of the lettering has stayed on which is more than I can say for most fryers. The temps on all my t-fal fryers came off within a few uses and I've used this guy probably 20x since I got it two months ago.
