Retro mixer with great carrying case.

This is a super cute retro mixer with a great carrying case that snaps into place and holds the beaters, etc...

It works great so far and is nicer than I expected. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Update: I'm in my little cedar cabin now. This mixer was the perfect choice for the antique, rustic theme out here. I just used it to make blueberry muffins. Their heavenly aroma is filling the air. This blender performed excellently. No dry mixture puffed up into the air when initially mixing. The batter was light and fluffy when poured into the heart shaped muffin pans. So, I'm very happy.

Well, the muffins and hot tea are ready now so I must go. I'm always delighted with a wonderful purchase and this was one. I'm an experienced cook/baker who uses mixers often. I had a beautiful little Cuisinart hand mixer that lasted 2 years. That mixer was a 220 watt. Then, the motor burned up (complete with smoke issuing forth from the vents) during the mixing of stiff cookie dough. I decided to look for a more powerful mixer. I don't want a big mixer to sit on the counter taking up room. So I bought this Hamilton Beach because it has 290 watts, fairly powerful for a hand mixer. I've used it for only a short while. So far it's worked very well on stiff doughs and comes with two sets of beaters; the thicker "old-fashioned" ones and the thin ones. Both work beautifully. It also has the container to keep the beaters in. It's easy to use and stable standing up. It has vents on the front and the back. It does not have a digital readout for speeds; the speed indicator is manual, but I don't really miss the digital all that much. They didn't offer white, but the stainless and black combo clean up easily. So far, it's a great mixer; slightly larger than the previous mixer I owned, but not too big and not too heavy in the least. Comfortable to handle. I hope it lasts for a long time. If not, I'll put more info on here. Certainly, I'd recommend it. It's a solid mixer at a very good price.

2 YEARS LATER

Well, the gear on the left that holds the beater just died. I guess the reviewers who say the plastic gears don't last are right. Even so, this is a really good mixer, far superior to others, except that it might not last as long as you want it to. If you don't mind that, you'll have a great mixer until it dies. In my case, too soon. Now I have to decide whether to get another of these, or just buy a totally different one. I really do love the extra power of this little mixer, though.

Read all the reveiws and people said some things that made me hesitate, but I bought it and it works great. Love the fact that the beaters (all 5 of them - okay one is a whisk) are stainless steel. For getting the beater clicked on the box all you need to do is bring it in at an angle and it will go right into place for you. It does take a bit more energy to free for use but nothing that difficult. I am over 65 and I can do it, so i am sure you can too. Great beater would buy again.

Power lever extremely hard to use.

This mixer was an identical replacement to a Hamilton Beach mixer that I had for many years. I loved the first one I owned and wanted another just like it. I noticed when I first received it that the power control was difficult to use, but thought that it just needed broken in. Unfortunately, 11 months out, I realize I was wrong and it gets more difficult every time I use it. Yesterday, I actually unplugged it to stop it because I could not move the power lever. I wish I had sent it back immediately, since now my return frame has expired with Amazon. I will be looking for a new mixer, but not so sure it will be a Hamilton Beach.

Very Bad Smell, lowest setting too fast

Very, very, very bad smell from this mixer. I have had it over three months and it still smells the same with the same intensity. It smells like metal and chemicals, it is extremely distasteful and sours the whole baking or cooking experience. My daughter leaves the kitchen as soon as I remove the mixer from the cabinet. I am getting a new mixer for Christmas :)

I also found the lowest speed to be too fast for mixing up my favorite cookie recipe: choc chip pan cookies. The butter flies off the beaters onto the sides of the mixing bowl or out of it. I managed OK, but would prefer a little bit lower rpm minimum.

In my opinion, the smell is so bad that this product should not be on the market. The smell alone is a defect. I do not recommend this product.

Only speed, fast and really fast

This works well but I wish there was a slower speed than the speeds that are on there. It is pretty fast so there are some things that I can not make due to it being so fast! So I need to be careful on how much is in the bowl otherwise what I'm making would get everywhere. Can't complain about the price and it works and I still use it.

I have a stand mixer (model 64650) with the same looking mixer as this but it burned out on very thick dough. I was hoping to find a replacement mixer that would attach to the stand but some reviews said this would not. WRONG! This popped right on my stand mixer and I am so excited that I don't have to trash it. Take note that this new mixer does not come with dough hooks, but does come with additional regular beaters that were not with the stand mixer.

Love this mixer! I bought it because of the power of the motor. Fell in love the first time I used it to make Turkish Delight. Strong, good speed, stable when set upright. The bowl rest and multiple beaters were bonuses, and the storage case did make storage a lot easier. It actually takes up less room than the smaller machine which it replaced.
