January 29th, 2019 marks a sad day. My food processor sputtered and died. I was pulverizing dried mushrooms. I did not overload the basin. The motor kept dragging (you could hear it drag from high to low- even on the same speed). I was not overworking it. I always took care of this machine. I got 5 years of moderate use. I think the blade was dull as a butter knife as well. I knew it's time was near. But today it died. So be it.
**** My conclusion. I still believe that that a higher price point won't get you a better machine. I think the motor on this one is garbage. I didn't use it everyday, or heck- every week. I hate disposable appliances. It's ridiculous and shameful.
I don't know where to go next. The upside is that I have a Kitchen Aid mixer now and may turn to one of their attachments for shredding and such. But I need containment for pulverizing dried mushrooms. I have no idea what I will purchase next. It really did start out nice and powerful. But these are not long term appliances.

So far so good- washed it up and got to busy making some zucchini bread. It made easy work of it.
I did a lot of research on processors. The one thing I found is that this is one appliance where you really can get a decent machine for less than the "high end" brands that really aren't any better.
As far as noise- After reading a lot of reviews I've come to the conclusion- that noise is just that- and some people's version of a rocket engine is the same as someone else's low noise window fan. I found this particular processor to me somewhere on the lower end of the noise spectrum. It is powerful, but I didn't feel it sounded like it was going to shoot off into space.
As far as jamming- if it's anything like the limitations of a juicer. Unless the manual says you can shove large bricks of cheese or a full sized apple in- it's gonna jam. This model says to cut down to one inch chunks. Sounds feasible to me. I had no issue. Yes- there were still flat wads that got stuck on top of the blade. I expected some of that. It's not going to shred every square cm of food.
The suction cups were a pleasant surprise and the sound makes me giggle when I move it to the area I am plugging it in.
Clean up- very simple- rinse clean and dry. It says it's top rack dishwasher safe- but I find it more logical to just wash it by hand than wait to fill up my dishwasher and risk anything drying on it.
Bowl leakage- I had no issue with what I used. I am pretty sure I was nowhere near exceeding the volume. Seriously makes me wonder what the heck people are doing! I think you can pretty much avoid this by being aware of how full your bowl is. It's not rocket science.
Overall quality of plastic and machine- I was pleasantly surprised at the heft of the plastic and feel of machine. It locks and unlocks quite easily as opposed to some where you pretty much have to wear a foil hat, stand on one foot and stick your tongue out at 63° to the left to get it lock and engage the safety feature. It does not have a pour spout, but I didn't find that an inconvenience, as I am generally dumping into a larger bowl. If you have that much issue with pouring and making a mess- I suggest you use a blender or throw down a tarp.
I do not plan on using this for kneading or mixing bread, it is also not meant for crushing ice. It's not meant for that. I think at the very least- you might be able to make pie crust. I found a trend on these appliances. People constantly trying to overextend the practical use of a food processor and then complain when it craps out. Aside from a few lemons (I have no doubt they exist) I think it's safe to say that in this price range, it has pretty simple features. No bells and whistles here. Just a basic decent quality motor food processor.
I'm looking forward to using it regularly.

Edited to add- After 4 years or so of spastic and irregular use of making biscuit dough, pie dough, chopping onions,shredding cheese, pulverizing dried mushrooms (not at the same time), this poor machine is in a death spiral. The fun suction cups that allowed me to switch it to full power and not worry about it walking off the counter are all broken. The plastic bowl is scratched and disfigured (thanks to the dried mushrooms- did you know they get really hot if they get stuck on the end of the blade and will warp the plastic?) The blade is now dull as a toddler's spoon. I guess that's what you get. I'm torn. Based on previous and current research, I seriously don't think the higher end brand and models will fair any better. So do I get another one or upgrade to a Ninja food processor/ blender combo in what I call a "Costco Du Jour" deal? Or do I order the current model of this one? We had a good run. It's a good appliance until it's not. It's one thing if Hamilton Beach offered replacement blades or bowls. But the suction cups on the bottom broke off and can't be fixed. The motor still works pretty well. So I'm stuck with a gimpy food processor. I don't want to contribute to the landfill. I'm tired of disposable appliances.

Arrived with cracked bowl..Very disappointed..I ran water inside to see if it leaked, and it did. I hope nothing else is wrong with it. I will try it out, and see if they'll send out a replacement bowl for it. I called the customer service support line, and left a message for a call back. It's very hard to see the fine line crack in the photo. This plastic is not very sturdy. The plastic is very thin. I'm going to try using the food processor, and if it works good, I might keep it. I still have a Sunbeam Oscar mini food processor I've had for over 30 years...and it still works great, much better quality plastic...heavy duty..compared to this plastic food processor. The Hamilton Beach customer service called back within 10 minutes. She was very nice. I gave her my name, address, phone number, information on the product, and she"s sending out another bowl, takes 7 to 15 days to receive the part. I will just put some duct tape on the broken part..and try to use it, until I get the new one. Lol..I have been using the heck out of it! I love it..It is super easy to use. The shoot is kind of small..so if you want large slices for your tomatoes and onions..you'll want to get a bigger processor. It sliced my Roma tomatoes very nicely. I just cut my onion in half and trimmed the sides and it sliced up nicely. I like the crinkle slice blade. It sliced up potatoes very nicely. (I didnt even need to duct tape it on the side for cutting up vegetables. ) Anyway, overall, I am very pleased with it. I've been slicing up all my veggies and putting them into containers to make my life easier..So..I would highly recommend..I only gave 4 stars on product only because of the thin plastic..but, you do have a year warranty..they cover it. So just be careful not to drop it..and careful taking it out of the packaging. It was a big plus that Hamilton Beach customer service was very nice, and no problems getting a replacement, you don't have to send anything back either....I gave this a 4 store orginally, but, I'm changing it to 1 star, because Hamilton Beach customer service lied to me! It has been past 15 days since they claimed my new bowl would arrive, but I have not received it. I am now making a second call to customer service to find out where my bowl replacement is and why I I haven't received it yet. I will be contacting Amazon next, if they don't resolve this. Okay..they confirmed that my bowl will be arriving today. ..so I'm happy.
