It's a little different than most other coffee makers and you need to learn a slightly different way to set it up and way to get the coffee out. It's simple though, the top comes off in 2 sections, one you fill with water to pour into the machine and the other you put the coffee. Then to get some coffee, you press your cup against a button and it fills. Cleaning is also a little different as you have to remove the same above 2 sections and rinse them. Very easy after using it a couple times.
I see some saying the gold permanent filters do not work, but I bought the 4 cup one that was recommended by Amazon and it works fine. It is a tiny tiny bit to tall, but I have been using it with no problems at all. I put 3 scoops of coffee in it to make a full "pot" and close the lid and its perfect for the machine.
The only think I can think of for a "soso" is depending on where your put it and how hard you press to fill your cup, it can be pushed around some when your trying to fill your cup. I had to back mine right against the wall, not really a big deal, I only wanted to mention it.
The picture makes it look like a travel mug will fit into the dispensing area. Wrong! That must be a 6" mug. My mugs are all 7.5-8", so I have to pull the whole thing to the edge of the counter to get my travel mug under the opening. Then I often dribble all over the floor. As the amount of coffee runs out, the dispenser starts to dribble and run down the edge of the machine making a messy clean-up. The dispensing button is kind of slippery and stiff, so my coffee mug slips up and down while dispensing and you have to hold the appliance in place to keep it from pushing back on the counter. I don't care for the open concept of the filter basket. I think the coffee would brew stronger and use less coffee if the basket was closed with just one hole at the bottom. Then they can slow down the water flow and get more contact with the coffee. Clean up is not nearly as easy as a carafe. The reservoir has lots of nooks and crannies and holds water. The reservoir doesn't fit under my refrigerator water dispenser very easily so I usually have to set the wet reservoir aside and use a separate cup to fill the brewing area. The corner of the reservoir has a slight leak if I try to use it fill the brewing area, so more clean-up necessary. Considering going back to my standard stainless steel carafe coffee maker. In conclusion; the clean up required is not worth replacing a carafe coffee maker in my opinion.
and our first one leaked.... so they made an exchange for us.
I use it from time to time, but nothing great about it, really.
