Sit down to juicy pot roast, savory roasted chicken, or pulled pork barbeque. What you make and how you cook it are up to you. Choose PROBE when cooking meats. Set the slow cooker to the desired meat temperature and it will automatically shift to warm when the temperature is reached. For soups or chili, choose PROGRAM and set the cooking time. Know the Temperature
When making pot roast or turkey breast, wouldn’t it be nice to know when your meats are fully cooked? We thought so too, so the Hamilton Beach Programmable Set & Forget Slow Cooker was designed with a probe that displays the temperature as it’s cooking. It’s perfect for knowing when meat is cooked or for deciding when to start side dishes.
Automatic Cooking Choices
Set to the desired meat temperature. Automatically shifts to keep warm when temperature is reached.
Set the cooking time. Automatically shifts to keep warm when time is up.
Select high, low, or keep warm without setting a time.
Power interrupt protection
The Hamilton Beach Programmable Set & Forget Slow Cooker comes with an abundance of features. In addition to the three cooking choices, and the temperature probe, it also is equipped with protection during a brief power outage. This feature keeps it on during those unexpected, brief, outages, so when you come home your clocks might be blinking but your meal is hot and ready to serve.
Cooking side dishes or dessert
Main courses, soups, and one-pot meals are not the only things slow cookers are great for preparing. They are also perfect for making side dishes and desserts, especially when your main oven is full. Make everything from bread pudding to caramel apples in this versatile appliance.

The digital display is large, crisp and extremely easy to read. The 6 quart capacity is perfect for cooking just about anything. The instructions are easy to read, and there's nothing difficult at all about using it.
We've only had the slow cooker for two weeks, but so far have used it about five times. Every meal we've prepared has come out perfectly cooked. The dishes include pork ribs, turkey breast, duckling, short ribs, and a pork roast. When cooking large pieces of meat, we use the temperature probe. You simply place it through the hole in the glass lid, than run it through to the center of the meat. Next, you set the desired doneness temperature. In the case of pork, we set it for 160 degrees. Once set, the digital display alternates between the set temperature and the current temperature of the meat. When the center of the meat reaches the set temperature, an alarm goes off indicating that it's done.
To make things even easier, we use the specially designed plastic liners. Than, once the meal is done, there's virtually no clean up at all.
The bottom line is that there's nothing bad about this product. The designers got it right, and the fact that it comes with features that are missing from more expensive models makes this a best buy.
Today I received my Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget Programmable Slow Cooker. Upon removing the unit from the box (which was in decent condition) I noticed the bottom of the unit was out of place. One side is pushed in about half an inch causing the other side to be pushed out about the same amount. After further inspection, I discovered problem after problem with this product. On the inside of the main unit (with the crock pot removed) I found several dents around the perimeter. One of the two bolts that holds the black base to the aluminum section is pushed up into the unit (caused by the damage of the base being smashed out of place). There is corrosion around the outer rim of the aluminum basin.
Build quality is poor. The aluminum basin is thin and flimsy. I have held drink cans that felt sturdier. The carrying handles aren’t wide enough for my 4 fingers to comfortably hold onto and even with the added plastic, the handle has a small diameter for a child’s hand.
The hooks on the lid of the unit are flimsy yet brittle feeling, which is a matching characteristic of all the plastic on this product. I doubt it will take long for those metal clips to break the plastic hooks. I can now see why many people complained that the lid broke on them. There is nothing between the glass dome and the plastic handle except a metal pop rivet.
The display panel is just a 1/4inch flimsy plastic panel. The buttons are mushy and unresponsive feeling. Every button I push flexes the whole display which is only held on by 4 cheap pop rivets. In full disclosure, due to the damage to the bottom of the unit, I didn't dare plug it in.
Overall, this wouldn't pass as an acceptable proof of concept build let alone a finished and marketable product. If the lid didn't break on you or the bottom didn’t overheat and melt off the unit, you would certainly burn yourself on the handles. I am done with Hamilton Beach products. My flexbrew is an $80 product and it is built almost as badly as this. You don't even get what you pay for with this brand.
If you are considering the updated version of this model, I wouldn’t. I looked at it in the store. It’s the same plastic, same housing, same hooks on the lid and same over all build quality. I bought this slightly older version because the metal handles and clips seemed like they would hold up longer. I chose poorly by even considering this brand. Buyer beware!
