As a longtime Dead fanatic (Pigpen version only please), I knew this band has been hyped as the younger generation's Dead, if you know what I mean. Well, I said, for the price on this, I am curious what all the excitement is about. Now I know. Man, these guys are great! Never boring, they stretch out and don't noodle you to death and everything has a cohesiveness to it. And for 7 discs at this price, you just can not go wrong. I probably will never buy another album by them but hey, I now own 7 by them! I am really, really pleased I got this and considering I am on the wrong side of 55, I can honestly say these guys stack up well in almost any era of rock. Just some great, great stuff! Highly recommended.

This CD set is amazing...Very similar to how the Roxy set was packaged. The sound quality is amazing and with 7 CD's and slightly over 8 hours of music...You CAN'T go wrong!!! Standouts include Emotional Rescue, Billy Breathes, Izabella, My Soul, Guyute and the Early versions of Moma Dance (Black-Eyed Katy)!!!

If you're reading this, you don't need me to tell you that this 97 Tour stuff is top dawg. Phish has kept this in their Vault for many years, now it has been shared with the world. The music will say it all, the long jams that defined the band is all here, nothing negative to say. The price is right, the sound quality is pristine and the band simply is on 100%. Some songs are 20-30 min, and seem to flow with amazing grace. Any newbies will dig this and become an instant Phan. This box delivers, if you dig this then check out the massive collection at LivePhish.com. Check out 6/19-20/04 for some solid jam. The 97 MSG shows are gold too. I could go on all day about this band. Jam on! Word is, one day in the future that Phish will return to the Hampton, and the whole place is going to blast off.

I must agree with the masses: The Fall 1997 tour is the height of Phish's touring career - and this box set captures the band at the top of their creativity and skill. These shows are full of surprises and genuine musical exploration. I wouldn't recommend this for the newly initiated, however, and would instead point them to 93-95 top picks, many of which have been officially released (5/8/93, 5/7/94, 10/21/95 are all excellent samples of classic Phish).

Now, if you cannot get enough of the Fall 97 sound, check out these official releases: 11/17/97 (Live Phish 11), 12/7/97, and 12/29/97.

All said, if you are fan, that is, you've listened to several shows and appreciate the band, this box set is worth every dollar.

So, I won't get into too much detail here . . . I'll save it for another day when I'm little bit more bored.
This Phish set is in my opinion the worst . . . Hmm . . . Ok, that might be harsh.
On seceond thought this Phish set my least favorite of all the archival releases. Amsterdam, Ventura, Roxy, etc . . .
I just can't stand it when the guys get all goofy. It's just me I know. Now I will admit that there are some pretty good renditions of some of our favorites on this box set but overall I'm of the opinion that this isn't a must have.

Hello,
I have listened to a numerous amount of Phish cd's over the years and was really happy to see this set released.
The thing that grabbed me was the positive reviews of the sound quality (1 reviewer even mentioned the word "pristine"
which to me = the 1995 MSG New Years "official"3cd release).Let me say these cd's do sound nice(maybe a good 7.5 out of 10)
and basically are the equivalent of the "Live Phish" series although I think some of those have a better overall
sound quality(dare I say "mix"?). So I think using the word "pristine" would be a bit over-zealous. In closing, the material included in these cd's should please novice and long time Phish heads alike.

Peace out.

Phish 1997 a great year for the band. These 3 shows are top notch and have not stopped listening to box set since I've received it.
