About the Author
Mark Brownless is a born Yorkshireman but he now lives ‘over the bridge’ in Carmarthen, West Wales, with his wife and two children. He balances his day-job by writing at night, in the peace and quiet of a sleeping household.

Cardiologist Tom Boyand researches the near-death experiences of patients from across the world, finding common themes in their testimony. Fascinated by what they’ve seen, he designs the ultimate experiment – a return trip to the edge of death. The controversial research is opposed by his university, and by his wife, Sarah. Neither this, nor the subsequent media frenzy following leaks to the press, prevent Tom risking everything and going ahead.
Tom’s heart is stopped and he is thrown through space and time, understanding all that those before him have seen. He is taken to the brink, almost being drawn beyond the point of no return before his colleagues manage to resuscitate him, after far longer than planned.
Traumatised by his experience and with his wrist inexplicably damaged, Tom becomes convinced that darker forces want to take him back, and is driven to find answers. A hooded figure starts to haunt him at home and at work, while his colleagues think his brain has been damaged by a lack of oxygen. While Tom grapples with reality, he becomes the prime suspect following the death of his overbearing boss. Meanwhile, Sarah makes a shattering discovery about Tom’s past and is forced to stand by his side while he wrestles with demons both inside and out.
Did Tom’s brain become damaged during the experiment? Has he been driven mad? Or is he the only man in the universe who knows the truth?
The Hand of an Angel will keep you guessing until the end.
