About the author

From the Author Don Wilwol: "I started building things as early in life as anyone could. Living on a farm in upstate New York afforded me the opportunity to learn how to work with my hands and my mind. Learning to use what was available was a necessity and at the time was the only way I knew. If something was to be built, the only way to get it done was by improvising and being creative. I was a self-taught carpenter and woodworker by the time I was 30.
Later, I decided to change my career from being a self-employed contractor to the computer industry. I am a self-taught computer consultant. learning several major systems and worked as a professional services consultant for Microsoft, Dell, several other consulting firms and start up technology companies. Through the years expanding on my woodworking capabilities, I picked up knife making, bow making and other creative outlets like tool collecting, tool restoration, wood turning, bowl crafting, blacksmithing and of course, writing. Everything I write about I have done. If it is in a book I wrote, I have successfully created it"
Self-teaching is a bit of a misnomer. It is really not so much you are teaching yourself, but you are seeking out the knowledge you need to understand along with the theories, processes and task required for the particular trade or hobby. Nobody needs to go it alone in today's world. The resources to learn are endless. You only need to seek them out and soak them up.
