When it compresses down, I can "fluff it up" a bit, reposition my hands, and keep typing.
Very little felt pressure against my wrists compared to other models/makers.
Only gave it four stars because it's slippery/slick on both sides, but I think it's made that way as one side is more "porous" or impervious to air/moisture and makes the "sock" a little stiffer.
Of course, YMMV, but for the price, I don't think you can go wrong. And if and when it wears out, I'll just vacuum up all the little beads and pour them into one of my kids' knee-high socks, tie a knot and keep using it. Matter of fact, if someone were to find something like low-density foam or rubber/sorbothane "beads" and make one of these it would be PERFECT.
I made the mistake of working for a long time without a wrist rest.. After a period of a few months where I was playing a lot of games on top of working all day on my computer, I started to have pain in my wrist/thumb area. This went on and got worse over the course of 2 years leading to a minor surgery to clear it up.
Ever since, I have made sure to be aware of my wrist position and use one of these at both my work and home computers. The beads (instead of gel) conform nicely to your wrists and are fun to play with as a bonus. I haven't had it split open like my old gel one and whenever anyone uses my computer, they ask me where to get their own.
Do yourself a favor and be aware of your wrists.
It's just the right lenght for a full sized keyboard. I like how the cloth feels on both sides and honestly both are very similar so I don't get why it has 2 types. I like beads vs. the gel wrist rests for both keyboard and mouse. I've used both and some of the gel ones are soft, but most aren't. Even the softer ones fell like you 'stick' to them after a few minutes of use. These beaded ones don't do that and it feels more like a pillow that conforms.
I say purchase this. It works well and keeps your wrists from feeling bad. Some do come way too full but use a bit of creativity and it'll work fine.
