I recommend this book for those new to the Catholic faith or those needing to reacquaint themselves with praying.
This book isn't just a book of prayer with a list of prayers, it is also a book on how and why we pray.
The book starts with a few chapters on praying and the reasons we pray. It includes sections on what is expected of Catholics and what the different sacraments mean. Therefore the first part of the book is about what is expected of a good Catholic and I find it is good reference material.
The Majority of the book is on prayers, and covers all aspects of prayer from the basic prayers we all should have memorized, through daily prayer and finally the mass itself. What's nice is the explanations of certain prayers where appropriate, covering where the prayer came from and why and how we use it. Latin versions of traditional prayers are also available through links in the english text.

The Handbook of Prayers is a wonderful prayer book! It has the Latin translation of a prayer on one side and the English translation on the other side, and I really like that.

This is absolutely FULL of great prayers and helpful topics that every Catholic should have. I am recently coming into full communion with the Church and bought this book and found it to be very helpful to me.

I wonder if I was the first person to get the Kindle version of this precious book? I was so happy when it came out! Anyway, if you already have the book and love to carry your Kindle with you this is for you. I use it at mass to follow the Mass (i.e. Eucharistic prayer -- it is not a Missal in that it does not contain the daily/Sunday readings). I have a Kindle Paperwhite and this version of the Handbook is easy to maneuver just use "go to" and you see the table of contents. It is also great if you want to see prayers in Latin by tapping on the link next to the title. It is just as easy to toggle back to the English version. Thank you for making this Handbook available for Kindle!!!

This book is by far the best collection of prayers. The book contains Latin and English prayers side-by-side of one another so you can follow and learn Latin. I have been looking for a book like this for five years, and it was just by mere chance I came upon this when I typed the word "prayers" in the Amazon search bar. I'm truly happy and grateful that I own such a treasure. I will advocate all Catholics/Christians to buy this book. Also, there is a Spanish edition for those Spanish readers, it's called "Oraciones Y Devociones", isbn# 0879738596

I first discovered this book in a chapel and it helped me to focus on my prayers. I had to buy it, and now keep it with me all the time. In here, you'll find prayers for every kind of event, emotion, celebration, difficulty, and abundant praise for our Lord. Though the prayers come from Aquinas, Augustine, St. Francis de Sales and others, the selection is terrific because you not only gain the Church fathers' wisdom and insight, they prod your own as well. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to spend more meaningful time in prayer.

This is a wonderful little book (size not number of prayers) that can be taken easily to work or on the plane. It contains a wealth of prayers many with the Latin translation on the opposing page. While it contains the morning, evening and other general prayers like many other books it includes the liturgy of the Mass, meditations on the Rosary, and other special event prayers and blessings. If you need one prayer book this is the one I would suggest. But I would supplement with the Pieta (blue)pamphlet. I still need to review Fr. Hardon's book of prayers.

Whether you are young in the Catholic Faith or not, this work of Grace is a reassurance during times of Need or Thanks. An excellent reference for those times when you just can't find that gentle focus or clear contemplation of the Lord's Divine Mercies.

I would like to see a leather bound edition released.

Personal buy. Love the range of items. While designed for Catholics, it has a much wider use for prayers, and exposure to a wider liturgical environment than my current sphere.

Excellent manual to supercede Handbook of Prayers by MTF which is no longer being printed. Theological students and seminarians would do well to purchase a copy
