We read this for a Noetics book study group. We all got something out of it, but certainly not more than one meeting's worth. If I had the option of reading it on my own, I probably wouldn't. This work is a combination of what were two separate anthologies, put together into one larger book. Different authors contributed to what helps the soul in the first part, and then what helps the heart of a person in the second part. The biggest draw for these two collections would likely have been the names of the authors contributing - everyone from Wayne Dyer to Deepak Chopra, and some lesser known but equally qualified contributors to the human potential movement. Their challenge was to address a very general, broad question - "What helps the soul?" and likewise the heart? - and do it in a short essay. These are authors that have written entire books toward more focused and specific issues. I would suggest these writers' individually published works, which would dig deeper into more specific issues, would be more personally relevant and beneficial for the reader.
