She must have been terrified all over again to be this honest. Bravo and thank you. The Puerto Rican references are everything. You are an inspiration. blessed.
On the plus side, the thread that runs through Rosie's life -- no matter what the circumstances -- is her inbred resiliency, confidence and unrelenting resolve to rise above a series of difficult challenges. Where many others would have turned to substance abuse, anti-social behavior or self-destructiveness, Rosie found humor, feistiness, and hard work saw her through. She was not without love and support, either, even though she lacked the demonstrative affections of her mentally ill and toxic mother.
Rosie's story is at once funny, sad, frightening, touching and triumphant, and I have an enhanced respect for her for having told it. Nowhere in the story, however, is the portion of the subtitle that refers to Rosie's great hair fully explained. She never actually relates how her life events led to her crowning glory; but I suspect that --- like many of her assets --- she was just born with it.
