I found this CD just running through some songs on YouTube. I already have Quincy Jones’ Back On The Block CD and I said to myself, Self give this one a try! I did and I really really loved it!!! I also liked the fact that you don’t have to wait for the Christmas season to play it. It’s a year round CD that you can play anytime and for any religious occasion or not, or you just need some comforting music. It’s very well rounded and a lot of the songs are sung by well known artists. So glad that I found this one!!!!

Much like the original work of Handel, it has taken his divinely inspired work of art and has inspired all of these people who have given it stellar reviews. It cannot be judged entirely on its own merit because it is not entirely original. It is, however, entirely inspired. Any cd that can bring me to tears on one track and make me cheer out loud on another, is not just any cd. I value this version of the Messiah as much as the original. It is the Holy words of God set to music. It is a message of hope. It is a message of peace and joy. It is the message of Christmas. If you want something that will move you spiritually and physically. BUY THIS CD.

This recording was given to me as a Christmas gift, and quickly became one of my all time favorites. I love Handel's Messiah, and consider it one of the all time greatest classical works ever composed for voices and instruments. That said, this contemporary interpretation is also wonderful. It features some of my favorite artists (Stevie Wonder, Take 6, Patti Austin); I especially love Tevin Campbell's "I Know My Redeemer Liveth," which never fails to move me. I not only listen to this music at Christmastime, but whenever I feel the need to be lifted and lightened.

Diese CD ist bestens geeignet für Gospel-Liebhaber( die Interpretenliste liest sich wie das Who-is-who des modernen Gospel: Richard Smallwood, Andrae Crouch,...), die auch ein Faible für Klassik haben.
Erstens hört es sich nur für sich allein sehr gut an, zweitens ist die Umsetzung/Interpretation des klassischen Werkes (Der Messias von G.F.Händel)sehr gelungen. Man findet viele Details aus der Klassik wieder; für diejenigen, die tiefer eintauchen wollen, ist eine Analyse sehr interessant. Ich habe daraus das Stück Hallelujah (den berühmten Schlusschor des 2.Teiles des Oratoriums)für eine Klausur im Gymnasium zum Thema Original und Bearbeitung genommen, dafür ist es sehr geeignet.
