The screws are small threaded (which i know they're supposed to fit in the original screw placement holes) but make me double think the durability and if they're able to withstand someone pulling hard if they want to stand outside of my jeep for pictures or get a good view or something.
But overall: its a good handlebar that has had no issues since i've bought them. 4 Stars earned.
UPDATE: one of the screws became loose and I attempted tightening it, but the screw's metal was too soft and became stripped upon tightening. One of the handlebars is now on the floor until an improvised fix can be thought of :(
These lined up quickly with no threading issues. First off, remove the 4 (2 per side) 13mm bolts. Take out the top one on the windshield vertical pillars and the outside bolts across the top of the windshield. Start with the longer of the 2 bolts, it goes in the pillar, once you have 3 or 4 threads started, switch to the top one to start it. Then tighten them a couple rounds each till the handle is secure. Repeat for the other side.
These mounted very solid and are super secure. I will update this as necessary. Hope this helps someone along the way.
Installation was a pain, because I installed one screw, then the second one didn't line up properly, and wouldn't thread without a bunch of fooling around. After I got the driver's side installed, I assumed that I had erred by screwing in the top screw first, so on the passenger side, I started with the side screw. Same result. I eventually got them in and I'm very happy with them, but I suspected these would take 15 minutes to install, and they took an hour.
As a tip, when you're removing your factory side screw, stuff some paper or something (I used bubble wrap) into the hole in the frame below the bolt. You WILL drop the factory bolt, and it will be easily retrieved from the stuff you crammed in there, rather than falling into the frame. Then, you can pull out the "stuffing easily before installing the new part.
Grab bars like these run for $90+ on Quadratec and other Jeep sites. I'm sure those are nicer grips than these, but I have had zero problems with these grips. They look good, and they work.
