What an amazing ride. I had high expectations for Handro before reading this book. Since his introduction in Further: Down the Path 2, Handro has slowly gained an almost ideological persona online. It was only natural that Mr. Mohrman would want to explore this character and create a new story to flesh out rumor from fact. It seems that Handro is everything we expected and a little more. Mr. Mohrman does an amazing job creating a world and characters that feel real to the reader. No one has super powers or is asked to do something that anyone with a sound moral foundation would not do. Throughout the terrifically paced book you'll find yourself feeling real emotion for the characters in the book. You'll smile at the friendship Handro shares with the many recognizable characters from "the Village". You'll wince in pain at every scratch, bruise or splinter that Handro gathers during his adventures. You'll seethe with anger at certain parts of the book. Not because Mr. Mohrman has tricked you with some clever word play, but because Handro is so believable that you cant help feel what he's going through. I finished this book, leaned back in my chair to take a breath, and then started from the beginning again. I didn't want my adventure with Handro to end, and hopefully Mr. Mohrman will continue to keep his legend alive.

Handro to is my new favorite action hero

I've been waiting anxiously for this book to drop. Having read the other books in the "Path" series, I was familiar with Handro (the title character) and some of his back story. This book turned it up to 11! Handro is everything I love in a hero; intelligent, slightly damaged, tough as nails, and not afraid of anything. He's like Indiana Jones, Han Solo, The Gunslinger, and Liam Neeson (in "Taken") all rolled in to one. The author uses his extensive knowledge of the outdoors and survival techniques to build on the story, without making it read like a textbook, and this time around we got some real heart and emotion, that I don't remember as much from the other books. There are a couple of almost philosophical observances about love that I didn't expect, that were very touching. But this isn't a romance, this is pure action and adventure, and you'd do yourself a favor to read it. Remember the kid you were, playing in the treehouse and wanting to steal away on grand adventures, with daring feats and damsels in distress. Handro is your expedition leader - grab your knife and rucksack, and head out.

Hardly believable on any level. But, hey, apparently a whole bunch of people eat it up so more power to them and happy dance for the author.

In a post-apocalyptic world, mountain man Handro sets off from a village that has take a liking to him to explore the southern region when he becomes involved in a local war between two competing factions. Neat book when combined with unique survival skills such as the curative power of honey and using fly larvae to cleanse dead tissue from deep wounds. Some of my favorite passages include "Wrap him tightly, but don't overdo it. He still needs to breathe for the time being" and "This place won't be standing soon. I'll see to that." Might not have been intentional on author's part but I kept seeing images of Rambo in Handro which rather made the book for me, in fact I blended a popular passage from that film with this book as part of my title leading into my review. Very good book, and because Cooper is also present in this selection I'm going to have to check out some of the "Path" books to see if they contain more of the back story as well.

I guess my review did not reach you from my Safari browser. This is a good story. It keeps your attention. No back up to get you in tune with what you already have read. This guy, Handro, is a one man dynamo. I could almost be there when is in action. From the time he hit the water, ocean, in his home made boat, Made from a large log, It setting is back in the days when you were on your own. How he learned to know medicine to make and use. If you want to know hw hw saved a tribe of people and destroyed another tribe, you should read this. Ithink it will be a good tome spent for enertainment. I can only hope you, as a reader, will find this as interesting as I did. Ally Oop

I finished Handro just before I left for vacation so I did not rate it after just finishing it. I finished it about a month ago now and I have been thinking about it since. At first I felt that this was not one of my favorite stories that I have read by Travis, but as time passed I have changed my mind about this story and I feel that it was a very well written story, just different from the rest of his works. this story is a stand alone one from his other ones, but with a connection to his other books. I would recommend this story to anyone that is looking for a light read and without sex or profanity. I have discussed with Travis before his ability to write in a way that looses the reader in the story and this book continues the tradition.

The story of Handro is told in an excellent form. It details an adventure as it happens, while giving some insight into what makes the man what he is. There is just enough left unsaid to keep the character intriguing. The way it is written reminds me of the movie, "The Book of Eli" , starring Denzell Washington.
I highly recommend this book. It is a good read for ages 14 and up.
Travis gets to give his hounds treats for good reviews.
I hope this is good enough to qualify.
I have a Walker Hound, myself, lol, and I think she has earned a treat, too.
