Neil Plakcy's The Handsome Prince is a mix of traditional and contemporary stories, each with its own unique fairy-tale atmosphere. Sometimes the prince is the one who needs rescuing, as in "Chauffeur Prince" and "Creosote Flats and the Big Spread." Sometimes the true prince is the other guy--like the tales told in "The Virgin Prince and the Rebel Chief" and "Reckless." There is humor and charm in these stories, with an underlay of passion and desire. The one thing these stories have in common, along with the original fairy tales, is a happy ending. These stories drip, quite literally, with romance. Whether it's a HEA--happily ever after--or a HFN--happy for now--when these guys find their princes, hot steamy sex ensues. Here's to stories (and heroes) that make us swoon!

Editorial Reviews
Review
"The Handsome Prince is a perfect book if you are looking for an erotically romantic, quick read. Every story has at least a Happy for Now ending, and all of them end on a positive note. Since I am a hopeless romantic myself, I admit that I loved that. I also adored the theme of the book itself. Just as every little girl wishes for their prince, there are little boys that wish for their own prince too."

From the Back Cover
Someday, your prince will come (and come again)
The Handsome Prince is a bawdy collection of bedtime stories brimming with classic fairy tale characters, reimagined and recast for any man who has dreamt of the day his prince will come. There are white stallions and castles and princes, of course, but also cowboys and auto mechanics and senators. In "The Master," a walk in the woods leads to an erotic encounter with a mysterious stranger; hailing a cab results in a wild ride with the "Chauffeur Prince." Sometimes, the prince is the one who needs rescuing, as in "Creosote Flats and the Big Spread." The one thing all of these stories have in common, along with the original fairy tales, is a happy ending. Whether it's happily ever after or happy for now, when these guys find their princes, hot steamy sex ensues. Masterfully edited by Neil Plakcy, these sexy stories fuel fantasies and remind us all of the power of true romance.

About the authors
Thanks for reading! I’d love to stay in touch with you. Visit my home page at www.mahubooks.com, where you can subscribe to one or more of my newsletters. I hope you'll also consider following me at Goodreads to see what I'm reading, and subscribe to my author page at Facebook where I post news and giveaways.
I've wanted to be an author since I was about sixteen, when a high school assignment on A Separate Peace showed me how powerful writing can be. At the University of Pennsylvania I studied creative writing with Philip Roth and Carlos Fuentes; I went on to receive my MFA from Florida International University.
My first published novel was Mahu, about a Honolulu homicide detective dragged out of the closet during a tough case. I put a lot of myself into Kimo Kanapa'aka, the hero, and yet he’s very much his own character, and much better than I am! He has had a powerful hold on my imagination for many years. I love writing about him and hope to keep doing so for a long time. He’s also the source of my favorite reader question. A few years ago, someone emailed to ask if he was circumcised.
My first reaction was “Man, I’ll bet Stephen King doesn’t get questions like that.” But then, his are probably even weirder. I went online and did some research and discovered that at the time Kimo was born, hospital circumcisions were common. So there you go.
My path to publication was a long and checkered one, as is the case with many authors. My first published stories were magazine erotica, and I still like to keep my hand in (no pun intended) with that kind of writing. But for the most part now I write mystery and romance—all my books seem to have both those elements, though in different proportions.
I began writing the golden retriever mysteries because I spent so much time walking my golden, Samwise (yes, I’m a Tolkien geek). He had so many funny habits and such a strong personality that I just knew I had to write a book that featured a dog like him. (Fortunately, Sam had no habit of finding dead bodies.)
I live in Hollywood, Florida now, with my partner and our golden retrievers, Brody and Griffin.
Thirty years ago, I started writing m/m romance. My writing remained a secret lest my friends thought me a freak. Writing about men inserting tab A into slot B didn’t seem the norm for a female teenager. Reading Gordon Merrick, John Rechy and Larry Kramer helped me fill in informational gaps. Yes, I read these books in my bedroom.
As the years progressed and I discovered my sexual path, I still wrote m/m romance, although the stories progressed from lurking in notebooks to hiding on the computer.
Running B-Side, an indie music magazine, helped develop my dialogue and description skills. While traveling to interview bands, writing fiction percolated in the background. Traveling also offered me new backdrops and locations for my stories.
Now I am glad I kept the writing faith. Six published novellas and novels later, my life is a fun quandary of too many stories hindered by slow typing skills. I accept the silly challenge.
When not obsessing over unique ways to describe erotic encounters, I enjoy reading, gardening or more like trying not to kill everything, traveling, arguing politics and teaching my house bunnies tricks. Unfortunately, the furry furies refuse to answer e-mails or blog posts. They also refuse to clean their litter boxes. Brats. I enjoy cooking for my beloved partner because she endures the endless experiments with grace.
I hope my manic devotion to words and romance connects with my readers. Is that a sincere enough ending? Drat, the sentiment needs work. Blame my sloppy muse.
Now for my bio’s promo section:
In 2011 Dreamspinner Press released the romantic fantasy "Canes and Scales", the dark comedy "To Save A Shining Soul", sad short "Baron’s Last Hunt" and the sci-fi dramedy "Divine Devine’s Love Song", although I don’t think readers know about "Divine". My next short novella, “Love in Focus,” is out now as part of DPS’s Time is Eternity anthology.
Silver Publishing unleashed sexy incubus Amando and his story Temptation of the Incubus in October 2011. My romantic fantasy comedy, An Elf for All Centuries, introducing bratty Prince Fabion, just released on May 26 through Silver.

English through and through, Josephine Myles is addicted to tea and busy cultivating a reputation for eccentricity. She writes gay erotica and romance, but finds the erotica keeps cuddling up to the romance, and the romance keeps corrupting the erotica. Jo blames her rebellious muse but he never listens to her anyway, no matter how much she threatens him with a big stick. She’s beginning to suspect he enjoys it.
JL Merrow is that rare beast, an English person who refuses to drink tea. She read Natural Sciences at Cambridge, where she learned many things, chief amongst which was that she never wanted to see the inside of a lab ever again.
She writes (mostly) contemporary gay romance and mysteries, and is frequently accused of humour. Her novel Slam! won the 2013 Rainbow Award for Best LGBT Romantic Comedy, and several of her books have been EPIC Awards finalists, including Muscling Through, Relief Valve (the Plumber’s Mate Mysteries) and To Love a Traitor.
JL Merrow is a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association, International Thriller Writers, Verulam Writers and the UK GLBTQ Fiction Meet organising team.

This little gem is something I've seen in audible for awhile and never really thought enough to give it a chance. Well, one of the authors was kind enough to provide it to us in exchange for a review, and, after listening to it in fits and starts, I found a couples of the stories real gems! Two of my favorites were 'The Frog Prince' by Josephine Myles and 'The Prince & The Plumber' by J.L. Merrow. These two shorts could make great novellas with more of a backstory, as I really loved the characters and would love to learn more about them.
Here is the line-up of the stories and the various authors:
The Master by Fox Lee Asian Prince in the woods...
Augustus Woods and the Prince of Rock and Roll by Aaron Michaels
In a Clearing by Rob Rosen
The Prince and the Plumber by JL Merrow
The Virgin Prince and the Rebel Chief by Red Morgan
The Prince of Izangraf by Neil Plaksy
Chauffeur Prince by Bonnie Dee
The Prince of Tires by Heidi Champha
Reckless by Janine Ashblas
The Frog Prince by Josephine Myles
Added Benefits by S.A. Garcia
Secret Service by Gregory L. Norris
Prince of Darkness by Jay Starr
Creosote Flatts and the Big Spread by Michael Bracken
As for the rest of the stories, some were basically erotica with not much plot line, but others were quite creative, and had me wishing for full, fledged-out stories from the snippets included.
As for the narrator, I admit in the beginning I was not really feeling drawn to his voice, as it sounded very monotone and emotionless on the first couple stories. But, having said that, as soon as he got into some of the historical or British narrations, he actually began to warm up to the characters, and he sounded in his element.
One of my favorites was 'The Frog Prince' by Josephine Myles. It left me wishing for more! The others that I enjoyed were 'The Prince and The Plumber' by JL Merrow, and 'Chauffer Prince' by Bonnie Dee.
A nice little compilation with some hits and misses for me. Overall, due to some of the narration I don't know that I'd want to relisten, except for bookmarking some of my favs I listed already. It does give a decent sampling of known and new-to-me authors, and I hope to hear more from some of these, maybe with a different narration choice.
Well worth the read.
