Needed some socks and saw these. Always have bought Hanes so I figured I'd give these a try.
The toes and the heel of the sock are reinforced.
The cotton and polyester feels soft, the tube has a nice tight snug feeling on your legs.
The red stripe on the top side of the sock shows the orientation, where the "Hanes" logo goes under the toes.
There is a fiber build up over time in my washer, there is some black material that kinda of sticks to your feet like when you take a shower you'll see the fibers come out from between your toes. I have a white carpet rug in my room and when I walk on it, over time these black fibers/material/lint transfer from the socks onto the carpet. I thought it would go away after washing the socks like it was something that was added during the manufacturing process to prevent molding during storage but even after multiple washes the stuff comes off
These socks hold up very well after many washes and I will buy more of them, the lint/fiber/material that comes off is a slight drawback
The first week I returned to work after receiving these while on vacation I got two raises, and three promotions, and didn't do a lick of work.
Thank you Hanes you've change my life!
But you want a review; you got a review! Two reasons I bought these grey socks through Amazon is that I couldn't find them at my Walmart , and I trusted the Hanes brand for fit and quality. As for grey: I wear grey socks because they seem to be acceptable for nearly all occasions. I wear them to work, weddings, funerals, Walmart, Liam Neeson movies. As for Walmart: they stock Hanes white crew socks, but I didn't see them in grey. As for Hanes: It is a name that I trust to provide fit and quality. The quality seems to be holding up. As for the fit: as I hold up one of my "old" Hanes socks against one of my "new" Hanes socks, I can see that the old sock is about 1.5 inches longer in the foot portion of the sock than the new sock. My new Hanes socks seems to creep back into the toes while the old Hanes socks did no such unseemly thing. So the new socks are a tad tight. Note: I don't know if it matters, but the old sock had the Hanes logo in red lettering while the new socks have the Hanes logo in black letters. Note II: As I hold up one new white Hanes crew sock against the old grey Hanes the new white one appears to be about 1/2 to 3/4 inches shorter than the old grey guy. The "creeping factor" is not problematic with the white socks, and they are not too tight. Maybe there is a world commodity shortage of spandex that could account for the paucity of materials in newer socks.
So I was surprised when, literally, after the first wearing, some of these socks had holes in the toes already. Upon second wearing, pretty much all of them have a small hole in the toe. And not because my toenails aren't cut or anything; this has never happened to me.
I usually love these socks and was impressed with the price and so ordered them. Now almost all of them, just a few short weeks later, have holes in them (and I cannot stand holes).
Ordering Gold Toes now, for a little more, but hopefully they last longer than a few weeks...
It doesn't even matter if you don't want black socks. You should buy these socks. Though, come to think of it, if you don't want black socks you probably shouldn't be looking at this page.
These socks are so great. I don't understand how companies can make shoddy socks and think that they can get away with it when socks like these are available.
