WHY CAN'T I GET A DECENT PAIR OF SOCKS MADE OF MOSTLY COTTON. These are advertised as 75% Cotton, 20% Polyester, 3% Rubber, 1% Nylon, 1% Spandex. That's why I purchased them for "mostly cotton". That's not what I got. I got this 10 pair pack made of 44% cotton and 52% Polyester. Polyester is terrible for socks. The dirt doesn't clean off very well on a sock with mostly Polyester in them. I could use Clorox in the wash but then I would loose the grey and pink color on these socks. To make sure I received what I ordered ,I did a search on the barcode number on Amazon. So, I received what I purchased. The material these socks are made of are not listed correctly on this website.

Also, these socks are thin. Cheaply made. Unfortunately, I need these extended size socks and I don't get much choice in this size. So, I'll have to keep them. Why are women socks so cheaply made? I may have to purchase men's socks to get a decent pair that is made well.

Not happy with these socks at all. I usually buy men's Hanes crew socks, and the difference in quality between the men's socks and the women's socks is super obvious. The women's socks are thinner, have a LOT less cotton. They feel like they're mostly polyester and they make my feet damp.

They're adequate, I'll keep them and wear them, but I pretty much guarantee they'll wear out a lot faster than the men's version. What gives, Hanes?

I've added a picture so you can see the difference. Men's socks on the left, women's socks on the right. The difference in quality is VISIBLE. it's super obvious when you touch them and wear them.

Edit: I threw out the entire package after 3 months and bought new Gold Toe socks (which I Iove, and a year later are still in amazing condition). I also dropped my review score from 2 stars to 1 star. What gives, Hanes?

I have purchased this item several times over Amazon and until last year, I was able to get the original one that has grey color on the bottom front and back of the socks, the rest is white. The picture you see is from an old pair that I was ready to throw away but still can't because the new ones are synthetic, super tight and have no cotton what so ever. The picture they advertise does not match what they actually send. Picture is also attached.

She loves them for their fit, comfort, and warmth. She's used these socks for years, and finally needed a new supply. The major advantage in buying quantity, besides a lower price, is that if one sock gets a hole the other can be saved because they all match. It extends the life of a set of socks. No throwing out two socks when only one is badly worn out. My wife lives in her socks, without shoes most of the time. They get quite a workout. This brand has proven for her to be the most long-lasting and comfortable of all she has tried over the seven decades of her life. Hanes is as close to perfect as it can get...at least for my lovely wife.

I had to force her to toss out the last set of Hanes socks, because they yet worked, but were a bit worn after so many years of use. Worn indoors and on the patio. "You're worth the new cushy comfort," I told her and she finally complied. She's frugal, and knows quality, the reason she only asks for Hanes socks. She should be on a Hanes sock poster, she's depended upon them for so long. She can cook too. Bakes and fries in her socks. She loves her Hanes, I love my wife.

I have always bought Hanes socks. These were not to the same quality as the ones I have purchased from the store. They get lint balls on them. They stretch and my feet slide in them.

I had read a few reviews on these socks with people complaining about the thinness and sizing but I figured they were just picky as I have had no problems with Hanes Crew Socks in the past. Boy, was I wrong. These socks hardly fit my size 7 women's foot and felt extremely thin. i decided that maybe by washing the socks they would "thicken-up" by shrinking the fibers closer together. Wrong again, they just shrunk up further so they were even smaller on my foot and I did not notice the pair I washed (only 1 pair by the way) getting any thicker. I would return this package but don't know if I still can since I wore and washed 1 pair. I will communicate with seller/Amazon. Save your money and buy some other brand, style, anything but these.

P.S. I would like to add I have contacted customer service about this inferior product and they gladly helped me resolve the problem. Thank you Amazon!

Here is where "you get what you pay for". I am very disappointed with the quality of these socks. The material is extremely thin, and after washing they shrunk by about a third in length---so their socks, they stretch, yes but they are already thin/cheep material and will probably wear holes after just a few wearings :(
Disappointed as I believed this company (Hanes) to have a better product than this!

Bought these b/c they are plain (no logos) and are not too thick for summer use. So far so good. Bought the XL (8 - 12) which should have been fine (based on purchasing other women's socks). These, however, are microscopic even before washing and drying--almost look like a baby bootie (well, almost). Quality seems moderate--not great but probably what you pay for. Would gladly pay more for better quality and proper sizing--would save me time and money in the end. Really gives HANES a bad name.

Eh. Basic/ kind of crappy but not the worst. They haven't busted through but I haven't worn them that much in the like year I've had these.

I have some old nice plush athletic/cushy/black and mostly cotton holy grail socks from at least 10 years ago, that still stay up, haven't gotta holes and are still plush....the last pair of a dying breed.

I've been trying to replace them _forever_.

It's easier to find no-shows, but it's freezing out and I don't feel like having cold ankles or weird smartwool colours for work.

Anyway, these aren't The One.

They are loose and fall down. (My feet are size 8). They might be ok if you have thicker calves or larger feet or like looser socks.

They do feel kind of rough and flimsy though.

I don't know if they're really the % of cotton that they say...the raspiness makes me think so, but my feet kind of sweat in them which normally doesn't happen with 70%+ cotton. It might just be my feet shedding a single tear of defeat.

I kept them as emergency socks, but when I have to wear them I feel like the day is a little sadder.

The fit is good but the product is NOT WHAT I ORDERED. The product description for this, the ordered product specifically states:
“75% Cotton/20% Polyester/3% Rubber/1% Nylon/1% Spandex” and that it is
“Hanes Women's Big-Tall 10 Pack Crew Extended Size Sock, White, 10-12/Shoe size: 8-12”

I received “Hanes Cool Comfort Extended Size Crew” fabric content as per my pictures is
“52% polyester
44% cotton
2% natural latex rubber
1% spandex
1% nylon.”

Whatever. At least the size is right. But I really wanted the mostly cotton ones. Not impressed.
