From the Inside Flap
Hairstylist Marla Vail and her detective husband Dalton are delighted by every aspect of their new home, until their next door neighbor illegally erects a fence on their mutual property line. Marla's hopes for making friends are ruined by a resultant argument between Dalton and the man, who happens to be the Homeowners' Association President. Things grow worse when their neighbor is found dead in his home the next day.
Despite a suicide note, Dalton suspects foul play, but he's removed from the case due to a conflict of interest. At her husband's suggestion, Marla works to know her neighbors better. One of them might have had a reason to want their president dead. Is it another board member? Or a local woman he'd spurned? Perhaps the guy's nephew wants his inheritance? And what about the protesters who disrupt the community rummage sale? As Marla learns more about the guy next door, she discovers ugly truths that a murderer wants to keep hidden. Can a sharp-witted salon owner untangle the web of secrets before the killer strikes again?
With a cast of eccentric characters, a sassy hairdresser sleuth married to a sexy detective, South Florida scenery, and a suspenseful story mixed with humor, Hanging By A Hair is a fun, fast-paced mystery that will make you observe your neighbors more closely.

Hairstylist Marla Vail and her detective husband Dalton have recently moved into their dream property, that is until trouble starts when their next door neighbor illegally erects a fence which imposes onto their side of the boundary. Unfortunately he's well connected and happens to be the homeowners' association president.
Things get complicated when he turns up dead the following day. Is it suicide? Or is it foul play? Are they implicated in a grudge crime?
As Marla lends a 'helping' hand to help solve the case, they discover that there's a whole lot more going on in the quiet leafy streets of suburbia. Good read, highly enjoyable with a great twist at the end.

This is Book 11 of the Bad Hair Day Mystery Series and is just as much fun to read as Books 1 through 10. I continue to enjoy following Marla as she goes places she should not go and solves murders that she should never have gotten involved with. Hanging by a Hair is no different.
Marla is now married and is even more involved in murders that her husband Dalton is out to solve. This ones hits too close to home – their own neighborhood; the one they just moved to start their married life together.
I am always mystified as to how much Marla tells other people about what is going on. If I was married to her, or even a close friend, I think I would be prone to tell her to shut her mouth and stay out of things that do not involve her. But, if she did this, how would she solve all the mysteries that she gets involved in?
If you have not read any of this series, even though each story is a stand-alone mystery, I highly encourage you to start with Book 1 and read them in order. By doing this you will be able to follow Marla as she moves through life.
Marla is thrilled with her new life as wife of Detective Dalton Vail and stepmother to his daughter. But, when their next-door-neighbor is found dead, what appears to be suicide turns out to be murder and Marla is determined to "help" her husband find the killer.
Great characters, an intriguing plot and a satisfying ending. I highly recommend "Hanging by a Hair."
