I think this is an accurate test kit and it is extremely easy to use but it is hard to get the top to open. I feel like I am going to break it getting it to open. None the less, if you hate reading colors yourself or doing titration test for alk then this is a good product for you. One sample of water and 1ml of test solution and your set. Press the button and done!

Very easy to use. There's a calculator online to convert the units (ppm) to dkh which is the more universal way of measuring alkalinity in reef aquaria. I'd give it a 5, but the glass cuvettes scratch up and shatter pretty easily. I dropped one cuvette no more than two feet and it completely shattered. Completely my fault, but contacting Hanna Instruments by phone and email is a PITA. So far no responses from them, and replacements only come in a 4 pack not including the covers.

I have Been keeping Reef Tanks for 31 Years and these Hanna Test kits are the Best ones I have ever used. I moved from the Red Sea pro models that I had to Hanna and I will never look back unless Hanna does not have a kit for what I need. I have used Red Sea, Salifert, API an ELOS and while I have to admire the Bang for the buck with API kits, but the accuracy is just not good enough for serious tanks.

The White case in the picture is the old case, mine came in a much more durable Black case with double latches. It seems all there kits now use the same black case. The Alkalinity tester is so easy to use, and the results are very accurate when I compared them against a fresh batch mix of Red Sea Reef Salt Water. I also get really good repeatability with the measurements and so far I am very happy with this kit.

With the Hanna kits there are a few tricks to getting accurate results, I will be doing a you tube video on that for people to see, needless to say if you dip them in a Tank to fill the vials, after you get the level right and seal the vial, make sure to rinse the outside off and your hands with fresh water and then dry it with a paper cloth and give it a final polish with a reading glasses cleaning cloth. If you do this and use them properly you get consistent accurate results and the real beauty is that you don't have to look at anymore color charts and the test are so much easier to perform than the old school stuff. I can do 4 different tests in under 10 minutes and have good results that are repeatable and match what I expect after dosing.

OMG. I waited FAR TOO LONG to purchase a Hanna Checker test kit. This test kit is my new god. So easy, no color matching, no questions, no doubt. If you are even remotely considering purchasing one- DO IT NOW. I guess I should mention that I use it for testing the Alkalinity of my reef tank. Some helpful tips: make sure you don't get fingerprint smudges all over the test vial- it will mess with your sample. And make sure you read and follow all instructions. I'm now throwing my Salifert kit into the garbage. I am also going to purchase a Hanna Checker for Phosphate and Calcium.

This kit comes with everything you need and enough reagent to last quite a few tests. It is easy to use just be sure to follow the directions exactly and to be accurate with the 10 mL of water and keep the little jars clean while using. I recommend picking up a glass microfiber towel from a dollar store or something.

Easy to use, you might only need the directions once or twice and there is no learning curve just be accurate as possible with the amounts you put in. Gives you an answer within seconds. I multiply the result by .056 to get my reef tank alkalinity.

I have many testing kits and of all the Hanna meters this is the easiest to use! Hanna should think of changing the reagents for the Phosphate tester to liquid like this one.

Great Kit!

This is such a great tool for managing the doses needed for my reef tank. I am pretty colorblind and the other test are very difficult and normally need help from my wife or kids. using this made setting up my automatic dosing unit a synch to set up! There are mixed reviews but now that I am using it I must say it has been very accurate from what I can tell and never get screwy readings. I know this because it reads that my corals are using up pretty much the same amount of Alk. every day or two.

If you read the instructions and follow them, you will love this.
Just a helpful hint, make sure to use a clean cloth to wipe the glass vile before you place in into the checker, the vile has to be sterile and clear on the outside or you will not get the results you are looking for.

We have an aquaculture business with thousands of dollars invested in coral, so we only trust what we know will work, and the Hanna items have proven to be a very valuable piece of equipment in our facility.
