I bought one of these clamps to try out, and after my first project with it, I'm ready to buy another. We'll see how things go, but I might also buy a few more down the road. So far I've used it to clamp jigs onto wood, and to clamp 2x4s together for sawing, and it worked great. It was awesome not having to adjust a screw each time I needed to clamp something of a different thickness.

What I like:
* easy to use
* way faster than a normal C clamp or hand vise
* easy to release
* easy to adjust tension

What I don't like:
* dangerous kickback when releasing the clamp--the severity of kickback seems to be proportional to the tension you set with the adjustment screw
* you can pinch your hands when tightening--I've slightly pinched my fingers and the meaty part of my hand on separate occasions.
* handles are too narrow and not quite long enough
* handles are not cushioned/wrapped in rubber (but perhaps most people who buy these clamps use them for welding and the rubber would melt)

So far I've only mildly hurt myself when using this clamp, so at this point I'd say the auto-adjusting feature trumps any of the drawbacks that I've noticed so far.

These c-clamps are used every day in my shop. they are the first clamp I grab for. They are built solid and keep their pressure setting. My only recommendation is purchasing it, is to buy more than one because you will use them. I did read issues with people pinching themselves with the release lever. I have also done this. In my opinion it isn't because of a design flaw with the tool, it was because I wasn't paying attention. In my opinion it's the same as smashing your finger with a hammer, you can't blame the tool because your finger was in the wrong place.

First I would like to thank the seller for a prompt delivery of my order; two of these handsome Hanson pliers, needed for my wood work.
Second (and why 4 stars) is that I noticed that one was made in Taiwan while the other was made in China. For me personally and in my experience, I normally trust products made in Taiwan, and I do not mind paying for quality, specially in tools, which are a key to producing good work. But China manufacturing is still in the clouds, at least for me, it is like it might be good but not so sure. Reminds me a little bit like those days were we could still order items made in West Germany but there were also available and made in East Germany; big difference in quality and workmanship.
Third : On first observation there are minor differences between one and the other, and I will give 5 stars if the distributor/seller guarantee the product quality on both equally or allows an exchange for the one made in China.
(This comment is entirely my personal opinion).

I purchased three of these over a year ago. I found them so handy that I purchased 4 more since then.

As other reviewers have stated they can pinch fingers if you are not careful - but pain is sometimes the best teacher - I’ve only done it once so far!

I love the fact that you can set the tension and then use them to clamp material of varying thickness without further adjustment. They are lightweight, quick to use, and very handy for drill-press tables with their long reach.

I mostly do wood working and find that if properly adjusted these will not mark most materials.

I find these very useful with my dowel jig, which often involves lot’s of quick clamp - unclamp scenarios.

I won’t cover all the details, as there are other more comprehensive reviews already. Just wanted to weigh in with my opinion.

Also, thanks to the other great reviews which persuaded me to give these excellent clamps a try!

I have the 7" 10" 11" and (2) 19" one without swivel pads. One of the 19" has extension arms -"U" shaped channels -that are slightly wavy or distorted but this has no impact on how well the tool works and for me is no reason to return. Otherwise the build quality and feel of each clamp is excellent. I am not so sure the texture grip slips any less than a standard grip but when I want to grab a self-adjusting clamp from the rack under my welding table it helps tell them apart from the regular manually adjusted clamps. The 7" doesn't fully release when I squeeze the release trigger at the tail end - at first I thought I would return the 7" but in use this is actually rather handy as it is the most-springy of all and it allows me get my fingers out of the way before nudging the handles open. Whiplash on the larger clamps is not an issue perhaps due to their overall weight.
My hands are large I can work the two smaller models easily with one hand while the 11" is a bit of an effort and the 19" is really a two-handed clamp mostly due to weight. There would be relatively few clamping positions that could be attained using one hand on the 19" clamp. When clamping it helps to pay attention to the pads lining up to each other, otherwise they can clamp and then slip.
There is bit of a learning curve on these clamps, but their operation is nothing short of brilliant and there is no way I would do without them. Surprisingly their clamping force is excellent. I expected them to be weaker than a standard clamp but they are clearly stronger applying greater clamping pressure for a given hand pressure. The release lever is more accessible than on a Vice-Grip. I have only just now looked at the chhanson.com website where they claim 7x faster 2x stronger and 100% easier.
