Im 6-2 and slept ok in this with a shorter female friend comfortably enough -
This is perfect for hot days and keeping bugs out -
Super super lightweight
Floor tarp section is nice and high off the ground for water running by etc
Construction is basic enough - setup is cool. Anything can be fixed with duct tape
Lighter color keeps temps down with sunlight
Floor section is waterproof
Only one entrance - so not much breeze when its cooking at night
Small chimney - again, not so good for getting a breeze thru the tent
Waterproof "hat" is kinda useless - i used a full one from another tent - perfect combo
Overall - this is an excellent little tent.
What I wish it had:
A 2nd mesh window with an external waterproof zipper for better airflow - possibly on the adjacent side - in case it rains you can angle the openings away from the rain
Larger rood mesh section for cooler evenings and maybe some star gazing :)
A slightly larger rain-fly with space to leave shoes / small pack outside tent incase of rain (a good pack cover could keep it dry too)
Rain fly with loops so u can pull it away from the inner layer - this prevents the water from coming thru better
Again - this is a GREAT little cheap a$$ tent - its server me VERY well. If u are smarter, carry a small sewing kit and dont be afraid to strengthen weak points and/or fix small tears. A high end clear patch kit would also be a great addition - not the glue bicycle type kits, but the peel and stick types -
Bear in mind im 6-2 and managed fine in this tent.. about as small as i could go - but def space for a 2nd half
If i could - I ould combine this with the ozark trail from w-mar(t), it has nice size mesh windows that will DEF allow more airflow.
I needed some tents to use for a holiday weekend. I didn't want to spend a fortune on tents alone, as I needed two of them for an camping excursion with me, my partner, and his son. I wasn't sure what to expect for the price and thought I would end up with some cheap tents that would break down In a day or two from usage. Even If they lasted for the whole weekend, I would of been pleased for what I paid. Another thing that concerned me was If the tents would be big enough for me and my partner. I'm 6 ft and he's 6" 2. Although It mentions these are two person tents, It's hard to judge them from the stock pictures alone. I was worried these would be too small and I would have to be out more money for more tents. I have to say, that these tents worked much better then I had anticipated. Granted, their are a few minor drawbacks.
Setting up these tents are so easy that even kids could set these up alone. I had both of mine setup within 30 minutes. It took much longer to decide where to place them than setting the actual tents up. They were set up on a Friday and were to be used until the following Monday. Plenty of time for me to fully check them out and see how durable they would actually be. I had no Issues with setup of the tents at all. Nothing popped, broke, snapped, bent, ripped, etc. during setup. I wasn't expecting much for the $11.99 price tag and was expecting a wreckage to occur, but surprisingly It didn't. Both tents were moved a few times over the weekend and not once did I experience any problems. (They were moved as In the stakes were pulled up and the whole tent was picked up and moved.)
Usage of the tents will vary for everyone. The tents are bigger then they appear on the website and are comfortable enough for two people. I highly advise against no more then two people per tent. This might vary differently for smaller kids however, as three small kids could easily work for one tent. They are perfect for single person use. You could squeeze In an Inflatable mattress within these tents, but It will definitely make It crowded. I recommend only using or bringing what you absolutely need for Inside the tent and nothing more. For our shared tent alone, we only had blankets, pillows, flashlight, water, some clothing, cellphones, and our shoes we took off and kept In a corner of the tent. It was just enough to where the tent didn't feel too stuffy or crowded. There Is a Inside pocket to hold Items and this Is where we stored our cellphones while sleeping. Of course, this would work for many other Items as well.
If your 6 ft. or taller, these tents might feel a bit awkward for you. I found myself constantly tossing and turning, while my legs were folded or curled most of the night. For me to truly stretch out, I had to have my head right against the back of the tent, while my feet rested against the door. This was uncomfortable for me and wasn't something I did often. My partner experienced the same Issues, even though he slept better then I did! If you adjust yourself diagonally, It's actually much more comfortable and you have plenty of room to sleep well. However, when your sharing the tent with someone, sleeping diagonally Isn't an option and your stuck with the similar sleeping arrangements. I feel this Is to be expected for the size and It's hard for me to complain much considering the cost of the tents.
The material of these tents seem to be rather durable. I'll admit, we were careful when zipping and unzipping the tent flaps. I worried they would suddenly break off or the material would rip. Even moving around In the tent, I feared that one wrong move will cause a sudden rip, but none of these occurrences came to surface. If your like me, you always seem to Incorporate a cheap price for cheap quality. Sometimes, this Isn't always the case and this can be said In regards to the Wakeman Outdoors tents. They held up really well and with all the usage they received over the weekend period, not once were their any Issues that arisen. I'm not saying this will apply to all, as their may be some faults or flaws with some. I can gladly say that I am happy with the two that I purchased and will definitely buy more when I need replacements or extra tents.
