Tree After solving her own murder by repeatedly reliving her death, Tree is back in the time loop when the masked killer returns to terrorize new targets.	Carter Tree’s love interest is back, but the new time loops and alternate realities-where he has a new girlfriend-throw a wrench into their budding romance. First off, I absolutely loved the first 45 minutes of this movie. It is freaking hilarious. The references to the first movie are out of control, it explores alternate timelines, and the "fine vagina" guy gets a bigger part (he gets a doppelganger... which they never bother to explore). I see a lot of people complained about this, but I really liked that they explained the origin of the time loop. It brought a sci-fi element to this series. I also thought the suicide montage was really funny. Anyway, midway through, the fun ends, and Happy Death Day 2U goes real melodramatic, full of messages, and heavy on the strings. Too much. It goes on for an eternity, and the remainder of the movie never recovers (HDD2U runs 15 minutes longer than the original). Late, for an entire sequence, they go flat-out slapstick. I was surprised this movie was done by the same director of the solid HDD1, because there are at least 2, if not 3 different movies within this sequel. I don't know what he was thinking. And the stinger didn't even make sense, except to set up a 3rd movie. Didn't Danielle just help them with the time loop? I thought Tree changed. While we're at it, Jason Blum has 3 assistants? Talk about high maintenance.

I watched the two movies back to back reviewing each one right after watching them. I have to say the first one was a great black comedy horror/thriller piece.

This one however took the series and made it from a horror/thriller with a black comedy sub cat to a campy scifi comedy!

I actually love it!

All the things that I loved from the first one ramped up to eleven. I also love the fact that over the course of the film the character grows even more and all the studying made her mind grow to the point she could piece who was the killer. The twist wasn't that much of a surprise really though it doesn't seem to need to be.

The movie is great entertainment and it will be going into my bluray collection not just to complete the set but to be watched again and again into the future.
