He manages to stamp his voice and style on these classics without making a mockery of them or trying to "punk rock" them.

Actually, it's more of a Classic/RockaBilly Idol Christmas. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect but I'm glad I got the album--finally. With this effort, I rank Idol along with Miles Davis, Bing Crosby, David Bowie and Frank Sinatra. This album is as much of a classic as all of their Christmas albums. I'm serious. Not because I'm a fan of Idol--which I am. It's because Billy puts his own twist on the classic songs from the holidays--which shows that he's still innovating.
He's also still entertaining. Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 11, 14 are especially fantastic; just a little different, but still what you remember. That's what counts. And I plan to blast track # 17 to bring in the New Year at 12:00 for years to come. What he does for it is amazing, and you'll have to get the album to understand it.

I love BFI and didnt know he had a holiday album. He sounds great! very unexpected from Billy. My sister thinks that he's too reserved and can't really listen to it because she thinks that he is holding back the ROCK and fist pumping. But, this is a great, classic Christmas album that you can put on and listen to in front of a fire, or have in the background at a party, and I bet most people wont know its Billy Idol. There is an original song on here that is very Billy.

When I bought this item originally, I expected it to be a hilarious slant at Christmas Albums, done as only Billy Idol can.
I expected pure punk-rock music turning the cheesy entry on it's head.

What I got instead... was absolutely BRILLIANT!
It's a true Christmas Album.
Billy takes it 100% seriously and does the likes of Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley justice.

Even takes the time to send well wishes to the people fortunate enough to be listening to the CD, as well as our good men and women overseas.
And his rendtition of Auld Lange Syne (after the lengthy pause) is the proverbial Icing on the Cake.

A must have for Idol fans and for people that just love Christmas Albums.

This is a fun CD. It is not what you would expect from Billy Idol. if you're looking for a LOUD, Rebel Yell kind of CD, this is not for you. LOL.. He's got a great voice and his take on these songs is very different and fun. This will be added to my list of favorite holiday CDs. :-) .. and yes, in the midnight hour, he cried "Ho, Ho, Ho!" Enjoy.

It's a great holiday album, but not in Billy Idol's trademark style. He gets a little close to his 80's rocker shouting on tracks like "Santa Claus Is Back in Town" and "Merry Christmas Baby". The real missed opportunity here, in my opinion, is that he didn't sing "White Christmas" to the tune of "White Wedding". That would have been awesome. (It's a nice day for a...WHITE CHRISTMAS!) What about "Dancing With My Elf"?

Billy Idol is my favorite music artist so I don't care what people say about him. I love his voice and of course, his look. If he wants to sing Christmas songs, I'm fine with that. He did a great job because he has a great singing voice. Unless you tell people who it is that you're playing at Christmas time, I don't think anyone would suspect. I am excited that i own the actual CD. It's great!

Nein, man wird hier nicht den rotzigen Achtziger-Punk erleben, wobei seine Hits zwar immer noch sehr gut hörbar sind, aber heute maximal als Pop durchgehen würden.
Hier erlebt man einen ganz anderen Billy Idol und muss feststellen: Der Mann kann wirklich singen. Und zwar nicht nur singen, sondern so interpretieren, dass wirklicher Weihnachtszauber entsteht (Silver Bells) oder man auch auch das Augenzwinkern heraushören kann ( z.B. Frosty the snowman). Unserer deutschen Seele tut auch Silent Night gut.
Ein reeller Beitrag zu einer gelungenen Weihnacht ohne Kitsch und Kinderchor.
