I bought this because we love other books in this series. My issue with this book is some of the examples given are not things that make my daughter sad...they make her happy! For example: getting a bath and going to sleep. I'm tempted to glue those pages together b/c if we read it to her she may get the idea that she is supposed to be sad for those things which would not be good! Instead of sad when going to bed, why not sad for being tired? I feel like the author could've thought some of these examples through a little better so as not to generalize things negatively that not all babies are sad about.

I love this author's books as does my toddler. But, I don't like the "sad" part of daddy leaving the room to say goodnight to baby, I feel like it paints a negative association with a baby going to bed alone. The "baby happy" is the dad coming back. Last thing I want to do is my son to learn from the book to call us back in (more than he does already). He really does learn stuff from these books as he recalls details and lessons from them during the day. Anyway, cute pictures and mostly other pages are fine, but this isn't my favorite book by the author.

As I've said in other reviews, I love Leslie Patricelli books. Some are saying this one is repetitive, and they're right. There's not a whole lot of thought in this story, but the pictures guide how you tell it to your kids. "Baby happy, mmm, look, the baby is eating ice cream! Yummy" and so on. You put story to the illustrations. Try to be interactive with your kids. Love the book!

I have almost all of Patricelli’s book collection but this one in particular, I hide. My girls love her books and they’ve learned so much from them. But that’s also the problem. Since these books are so influential to my kids, I can’t read this one. We’re trying to teach her to be gentle with the cats, to wear clothes, to take baths and to be independent (sleep and play alone). This book doesn’t help! See the pictures before you purchase.

My 5 yo LOVES her books, and I've purchased this as a gift for friends' foster kids. I LOVE that it's in Spanish, too. Love the texture of the book - it's thick board - and it's a quick bedtime read. And of course, who doesn't love "Baby"? Leslie's books are just wonderful for kids - we have 6 of her books. Makes a wonderful gift for the "little" in your life.

Both of my kids have loved these Leslie Patricelli board books. This one can be a nice invitation to talk about feelings with older toddlers, who will find some familiar situations in it (the joy of getting muddy, the drama of sharing with peers, etc). The illustrations are attractive, funny, and easy for babies and toddlers to decipher. I would recommend this for ages 6-36 months.

Not nearly as good as Yummy Yucky by the same author. The Yummy Yucky book has a complete sentence about a different thing on each page whereas this one just says "baby happy" and "baby sad" on every page. The kids still enjoy the pictures, but I make up my own story for it to make it interesting for them.

Adorable little pictures in this book.... That's it! There is only one phrase in each page " baby happy" "baby sad", that's it nothing else but that. I'm quite aware that you would explain what is on the pictures to your child but if this what I knew it said on each page there is no way I would of bought it! I'm very disappointed in this purchase! I love the author but next time I will read the reviews on these books before I even buy them.

It is a well used book. But it is not a damaged one. So still can be used. Thank you

Cute!

Each page flip features a “baby happy” and “baby sad” moment. They are always thematically related. A little dry for the adult. It’s some pretty obvious happy/sad stuff. But good for kids. Could start preparing them for “life’s bummers”.

Some questionable choices for 'baby sad' pages
Reviewed in Canada on July 28, 2020Verified Purchase
I have a bunch of this series, and I really like a lot of them, but this one not so much. Some of the "baby sad" pictures are: when the baby's dad is leaving the baby in its crib at night, and when the baby is in the bath. These aren't really situations that I want my kid to associate with feeling sad. That's the down side of ordering kids books on Amazon, I guess.

I don't know if I would call this is a book? It has two sentences that are repeated over and over with different pictures. "Baby Happy & Baby Sad". Small book, not worth the money!! I am Sad!!! Lol!!
