Top Customer Reviews
No battery cover, but that doesn't matter because it doesn't work with a battery in anyway. Also no on/off switch (maybe the hole in the bottom that goes all the way to its head is supposed to be covered with a panel and a switch?). Other reviews say the lack of a battery cover doesn't matter because it will be sitting on a surface, but it DOES matter. For one, I paid for it and I would like it. Also, coworkers will inevitably pick it up off my desk and the battery will fall out. Funniest part: There's a sticker on the bottom that says "QC PASSED" so somehow it managed to pass the Quality Control inspection!
However, other than it being completely non-functioning, it's exactly what I expected. It's cheap, so ugly it's cute, there's a seam running all along the side from the molding process, and it's made of a plastic that is not designed to hold up to children. I get the sense that if it were stepped on or dropped hard enough it would likely splinter into shards rather than crack... imagine those cheap Christmas Tree ornaments you buy in a flimsy plastic container at Target. BUT, this is what I expected. However, I expected it to work.
The cat itself is really cute and quite well detailed. I have named him Benedict, since seeing maneki neko cats in an episode of Sherlock was what prompted this impulse buy. I like him. I'd give him five stars and the packaging and the instructions one star.
Excellent condition, but cheap construction. Long battery life, great golden color, arm swings exactly how it should.
It needs a little help to get going when I turn it on, but after flicking the arm down it moves as long as it has power.
Time will tell if it beckons me for months on a single battery.
