This book was published in 1875, so we know the period for which it is written. It is the tale of three small children, Edith, Mabel and Johnnie, who visit their Aunt Maria in Virginia for five weeks while Mommy and Daddy Evans travel to Florida for a necessary vacation (necessary for Mommy's health). The novel relates their happy times, trials and adventures while at Aunt Maria's home.
When you are in the mood to get comfortable, completely relax and thoroughly enjoy a joyful story of family life in the 19th century, this is the novel for you.
I would recommend this book to all and I intend to read it again
I didn't read the jist of the book before I put it on my Kindle, I just liked the title. I now read the summary of books before I purchase them.
