Jess calls Ike after her apartment has been ransacked and she over hears the guys in her apartment say they need her. Ike decides that he needs to get Jessica somewhere safe, which leads to him taking Jessica out of Baltimore.
I always knew that if Ike and Jess had to spend time together with no one else that they would have to deal with their feelings for one another. I was cheering for Ike to sort through how he felt about himself and see he was worthy of Jess. Jess knew she had feelings for Ike but he felt that friends only was the best route. I was cheering for them to be together from the first page.
My all time favorite quote from Ike is: "When we're together everything makes sense. And when we're not...it's like everything falls apart." Also when he says: "That's just it, I don't want to be friends anymore, Jess. I want to be everything to you." I am truly in love with these two as a couple. They are a perfect balance of each other and I was extremely happy to see them get together.
For such a short read, Laura sure packs a punch, jumping right into the story, and giving a realistic portrayal of two people who have loved each other for years, and am finally getting the opportunity to get those feelings out in the open...well...after the insane night of crazy, off the chains, 'did that really just happen', I need a cold drink like NOW' sex. Holy Momma...yeah...we are talking fever induced madness...and it was so damn good! No one can ever say that Laura Kaye can't write the S@&^ out of a love scene! Marz is my favorite Dirty Talker, Beckett is my favorite up against the wall lover, Jeremy is my romeo...but Ike...let's just say HARD AS STEEL is the perfect name for his book...and his dirty minded ways!
If you need a quick read that will have you feeling the burn...HARD AS STEEL is a Must Read!! More Ravens needed now please! Can't Wait! In the meantime, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE READ THE HARD INK BOYS!
I loved that, even with all the heat between Jess & Ike, there was no judgement as to how either of them live/lived their lives. They each seem to know the other (they have been friends for 4 years) & completely accept each others strengths & weaknesses.
Great book, great (REALLY HOT) sex!!!
The attraction between Jessica and Ike was two things: mutual and hidden. Neither one wanted to admit to the other that they had this secret yearning but now that they were stuck together in very close quarters, shut off from the rest of the world, deep down they both knew it would only be a matter of time before the need took over. The reasons both of them felt unworthy of the other were different but also very much the same: fear. Fear for their safety. Fear of unworthiness. But fate and emotion would help with Ike and Jessica overcome the fear and when it did? It was a thing of burning hot beauty.
I loved every thing about this book. I loved the plot, the suspense, the building emotion, the attraction between these two headstrong and vulnerable characters…all of it. Ms. Kaye does such a beautiful job with building the entire situation and sexual tension between Ike and Jess and it connected me to both of them on such a delicious level. I wanted nothing more than for these two broken souls to get together and trust in one another. Separately, Jess and Ike are wonderful characters. She is feisty and quirky and had me laughing out loud so many times. I loved that she lives her life on her own terms and she’s such a breath of fresh air in the world of book heroines. Ike is just as amazing with his gruff exterior and hidden big heart.Read more ›
