I first saw Paris based Laura Cox on Youtube and was amazed by her musicals skills. She can play any stringed instrument in any musical style - from bluegrass to blues to classic rock to shredding - from Brad Paisley to John 5 to traditional folk. She can emulate the style of any guitarist (Mark Knopfler, Angus Young, Slash), yet maintain her own stylistic individuality. Along with her excellent band, this album showcases her writing, playing and singing skills in classic blues based rock. A very solid effort from beginning to end. She does not intentionally play up her physical beauty but it is impossible to overlook. I hope she tours the States sometime soon. She deserves to be heard. She should be huge.

All I can say is wow! Saw Laura Cox on YouTube, and being the old guy that I am decided I needed a CD. Best music purchase I have made in a long time! If you like Southern rock you need to give this girl from Paris a chance. Every song is great. And, now I know why a guitar is shaped the way it is (watch some of her YouTube posts and you will see what I mean). Highly recommended!

Having spent 4 good years of my life in a Southern Rock cover band in the late 70's, I have a deep love for the genre. I was amazed when I stumbled on these folks on Youtube not long ago. It's 100% really good original new material, but with a classic feel, and with the energy of a young generation. When I'm in the mood for Allman Bros, Skynyrd, etc, I'm definitely in the mood for Laura Cox band. Oh, by the way, they're French. Go figure.

Hard Shot Blues - well, sort of. Bit of an impulse buy after quick review when the album popped up on Amazon. The opening track, "Hard Shot Blues" starts so well - a great intro, classic rock style building up to the opening of the song - but then the overall quality and clarity of the lyrics just lets it down. Laura Cox is French and the pseudo American rock chick voice doesn't quite do it for me. It isn't clear what she is singing even though you know it is "Hard Shot Blues". The rest of the album just passes you by a bit. Cliched US rock lyrics, some patchy but decent guitar work. Overall a bit disappointing and flat. Will keep it spinning for a while longer but not sure it is a grower. Sorry Laura .............

I first saw Laura Cox on YouTube a while back, and having enjoyed her covers of well known rock tracks, I very nearly fell over myself when I discovered that she has now released her own first album of old school blues rock. It has some rough edges but it is stuffed to the gills with enjoyable riffs. My air guitar was on double overtime. Of course I'm no expert, but if I compare her to other rock artists, with a bit more polish to make her output really flow, I'm convinced that this lady could be cutting it with the big boys. She's got her own sound...so come on Laura! I really want to see you succeed on the 'main stage'. After all, you've got it!

Count me stupid, but I knew the girl from youtube and bought the CD without realizing this was a completely French band. All the better for them - Laura sings like a native, and the guitar is amazing. I would say that she is better than Ana Popovic and the like, and I would put her high up there with Orianthi, in a different style. Matter of taste. This album does rock and it will be a killer in concert, cant wait to see that. This indeed DOES sound like an AC/DC album from the golden years, and there is basically nothing to complain about (except the 20 GBP prize I guess). Must have.

This band was not what I expected, they are better. They are a mix of rock, blues rock ,blues,delta blues and classic rock. When Laura lets go on her guitar, it is hardcore in every sense of the word. To say the band members are great would be an understatement. They are exceptional to be able to put all this together.
