He was the one-night stand that didn’t exactly go as planned. Now he’s standing before me as if he’s never seen me naked, telling my manager he’ll take the job. Reluctantly.
Finn Sanderson.
Sports agent extraordinaire. Handsome as hell. The man who just signed on to control my every move.
Sure, I’m to blame for my recent bad press, but when your whole life has been so regimented, isn’t it normal to want to live it up a little?
But when the partying stops and the grief I’m running from has nowhere else to hide, reality sets in. Turns out, Finn’s the only person I have left to help pick up the pieces. The only person to call.
Staying with him is a temporary thing. But when our fighting turns into laughter and our friendship turns into something more, will I fight for a man who swears he’s hard to love? Or is it wiser to walk away? To follow the plan?
* * *
Offering to help with a client is a way to repay a long overdue IOU to my mentor. Little did I know she was the woman who left my hotel room at four in the morning.
Stevie Lancaster.
Top-seeded US tennis player. Good girl gone bad. The woman currently about to throw her career away. And now my problem.
The compensation to “babysit” her is great, but she isn’t worth my trouble.
But when her world falls apart and she has no one else to turn to, I try to be a good guy by gathering her up and hiding her from the media’s eye.
Now she’s in my house, in my space, and even though I’m enjoying the side benefits of this unexpected arrangement, surely she’s better to leave when the time comes and follow her destiny. Because I’m not the man she needs. Not the man she could love. Right?

About the author

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary romance novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes, who we love to hate but can’t help to love.
A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs, sports practices, and figuring out how to navigate parenting teenagers (send more wine!). More often than not, she does all of this with her laptop in tow, and her mind daydreaming of the current hero she is writing.
Since publishing her first book on a whim in 2013, Kristy has sold over two million copies of her books across twenty different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over thirty times. Finn Sanderson, sports agent extraordinaire!! Or maybe not, we’ve already met him in the previous Play Hard books. He’s known for having a contentious rivalry with the Kinkade sisters in the sport agency arena. He’s also been an ultimate thorn in the sisters side at times competing for their clients, among other less than honorable things. Not forgetting his failed relationship with Chase Kinkade. So, it’s going to take quite a bit of work to redeem this bad boy!!
Hard to Love begins with a real bang. Stevie Lancaster is a tennis phenomenon whose world has been turned upside down by the death of her dad, Liam Lancaster. He had spent his life managing every aspect of her career. As her sole parent he was both dad and mom. Without her best friend - her dad, she was at a loss without the structure that he brought to her life. Not being able to deal with the pain of her dad being gone Stevie was at an impasse. So, her way of dealing with it was by behaving badly. With wild parties, alcohol, carousing with her two best friends in Vegas, more alcohol and the crazy “Cards O’ Fun” dares they come up with. The ultimate dare she is challenged to is having a one-night stand.
This is where Finn Sanderson comes into the picture. He’s flown to Vegas to meet with his mentor Carson Vega. He knows that he is being asked to be Stevie’s new agent. The dilemma for Finn is that he feels that he owes so much to Carson for his own career that he has to at least hear him out. Although Finn’s mind is already made up … while having an evening drink at the hotel bar he’s trying to figure out how to decline the offer. It’s here that Finn unknowingly meets Stevie, aka Scarlett and becomes the unsuspecting prey of her one-night stand. A night that ends with the most unforeseen conclusion.
At Finn’s meeting with Carson the next morning, he feels he indebted to take on Stevie as a client. With her missteps and crazy antics, she needs someone like Finn to help get her back on track… one of the things that Finn is known for. Although when Finn comes face to face with Stevie and recognition from the previous night kicks in it’s an all-out battle of words to discourage him. Even more shocking is when Finn finds himself telling her what he is expecting from her as taking her on as a client.
“The woman is a tornado, an earthquake, and a hurricane all mixed into one.”
It’s time for Stevie to get back on the court again … and Finn is going to be there every step of the way. It’s when Stevie plays in a charity match, her first since the death of her dad. One that she finds herself losing. It’s Finn who gives her some locker room tough talk … setting a fire under her to play like the champ she is. Needless to say, she wins!!
“There’s something about him that has me reminding myself to breathe.”
It’s the celebratory hug between Finn and Stevie that will change the dynamics between them. Media is having a field day with the speculation about what’s going on between them. This ultimately led Finn to quit as Stevie’s agent. Finding out of Finn’s departure, Stevie ends up once again as the life of the party on the casino floor. Fortunately for Stevie, Finn just happened to be on the casino floor too. Saving her from yet another humiliating mess.
“Everything about him reminds me of the taste of his kiss the feel of his hands on my body. But I don’t like him.
Not one bit. Or at least I tell myself that.”
“For the record I wasn’t quitting on you. I was saving you from me.”
Waiting for a flight back home Finn happens to notice the TV coverage of Stevie, surrounded by her bodyguards as they move her away from the press. Grabbing his phone, he checks the news to find out what is going on. It’s what happens next that has him changing his plans when he gets a call from Stevie. “I need you.”
“There’s just something about this woman - even at her wildest - that gets under your skin. Something you can’t put your finger on, but you can’t walk away from.”
Finn goes into action to help Stevie with the situation, taking her to his house while she dealt with this latest bombshell. I loved how protective Finn was of Stevie. The security she had being out of sight, away from the paparazzi, having a place to practice for the open, plus Finn giving her the time and space to put her life back together. Once again there is another shift in their dynamics. Walls were coming down between Finn and Stevie with truths shared. It’s sweet. It’s hot and sexy. It’s finding a commonality and understanding that only intensified feelings. Feelings both have for the other but never shared.
Rest assured that Kristy's epilogue left my heart full and my soul smiling!!
If you are looking for deep storylines, well-developed characters, some angst and some spice 🌶 🔥 🥵 read this series. I promise it won’t disappoint!
The ultimate hero redemption! This enemies to lover sports romance was such a sexy read, full of great banter and heart, I loved it. Finn and Stevie had a mountain of baggage and unwanted sexual tension between them but there was no denying their chemistry after one night together. Leading up to this book in the series, Finn definitely didn’t have the best reputation but he absolutely surprised me with his story! Behind his jerk tendencies there was a man with a tender, caring heart and a few love battle scars of his own. He was the exact man that Stevie needed in her life after the devastating loss of her father, the biggest support of her tennis career. The way that Finn and Stevie wound up building a friendship really setup this story to have me falling head over heals in love.
“I think one more kiss will be enough but then my hands are on her and it becomes one more touch. One more taste. One more everything until I’m drowning in her.”
I loved finally getting to know more of Finn’s background in this book and what made him tick. My heart hurt that Finn’s father had drilled into his head that women were nothing more than a distraction, someone to screw you over and never to trust them with your heart. But with Stevie, there was no stopping how his heart fell for her in the way he cared for her when she needed him most.
Stevie had a wild streak to her at the start that had me shaking my head but she hadn’t fully processed her grief over her fathers death. She was stubborn yet strong and didn’t want a babysitter, especially not a man like Finn. But when she realized a what a good man he was underneath all his arrogance, I was rooting for them to give into their desires and let go with each other! 4.5 stars for me!
“And most of all, I love that you love me. A man who might be hard to love, but who would move heaven and earth to hear your laugh. To taste your kiss. To lie beside you each and every night.”

Stevie Lancaster had gone off the rails and her manager Carson didn't have the time nor energy to try and get her back on track. Bringing Finn Sanderson in as the tough younger manager was his idea to get Stevie back in line. Two stubborn people working against each other was never going to be an easy ride. But, when Stevie's life throws up another complication, Finn shows her compassion and strength that allow her to find her own feet, in a way she didn't think herself capable of.
Fab story!
