You would expect a book about a Viagra salesman to be chockfull of cocky bravado -- but it isn't! It's and incredibly entertaining story about a guy who lucked into a great career at the perfect time. The author stumbled into the pharmaceutical industry as a sales rep just when that field was hitting new heights and compensation was outrageous, but before technology would make it impossible to cut any corners. Jamie is the Outlier of slackers. A fascinating read about the not-always-easy transition to adulthood. (A transition I've been waiting over 40 years for.)

This book was not what I expected. With the release of the movie, I expected the book to have a love story painted throughout. After getting the to end of the book I was disappointed to have none of that love story in it. Mentions of girl friends, sure, but nothing that hooked me. What I was expecting to get didn't match what the book was actually about.

That being said, this is a good book. I wouldn't rank it in my top 10, but Jamie Reidy is a good story teller and parts of the book did make me laugh out loud. I never thought that I wanted to know that much about Pfizer, but I'm glad I do.

If you're looking for a quirky memoir about a pharmaceutical sales rep, I would read this one. If you're looking for a memoir laced with a love story, I suggest "It's Kind Of A Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini.

Very good, someone recommended the movie and I misunderstood and downloaded this sort of by mistake. Very glad I did. Jamie Reidy is very funny and book was a real interesting and insider look into insane and often frightening world of pharmaceutical sales

I liked this book. It was really interesting to see how these companies work. It will definitely make me ask my doctor exactly WHY is he/she writing script for the particular med at that time. is it because it is what is best or what he is obligated to write........ makes u think......

Well written and an interesting side of the industry to hear about. Recommend for other sales reps, not sure who else this would appeal to

Enjoyable and as a salesman who frequents the same bars as he has, relatable. but quite an anticlimactic end. Overall worth the read though

The author is a likable guy but the story is not compelling (at all) until you find out how it is this thing ever showed up on your book search.

It would be interesting read during the early years of Viagra, read it in 2013 and it's dull like raw egg.
