About the Author
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up, she's at the well, hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it gave her a big enough ego to try her hand at novels. She’ll tell you all about it out back, where a cord of wood awaits.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Dash Wallace is a baseball player who believed in lucky charm. He has a routine that he follows religiously, and if changes occur his game will suffer.
Vivian Foster is a librarian who is a huge baseball fan. When her school went for a field trip to the famous baseball stadium to meet the players, Vivian grabs the opportunity to get her ball signed and eventually meet this debonair Dash.
Smitten by her beauty Dash made an effort to meet Vivian by visiting her to the library and also to tell her about the missing glove (his lucky charm). Dash and Vivian became friends, which lead eventually to being lovers. Dash rocks Vivian world in more ways than one. The chemistry between these two in undeniable. The sexy scene, whew, it’s HOT!
But like most love story, there’s a conflict when it comes to commitment. Dash isn’t into commitments and so Vivian no matter how much she loves this man has to let go. Will Dash realize that Vivian could be the love of his life?
This is a feel good book, I finished it with a smile. C.D. Reiss hit a perfect pitch with this story. I LOVED it!
But I have to deduct one star because it felt a little off with the writing. It felt a little disjointed, and I kept thinking here and there, what the hell is going on and what the hell are they talking about. It just didn't flowwwww for me like it should, seamlessly. I hate having to deduct for that one thing, and I seriously debated saying give it the five stars these characters and their story deserves, but schmoozing over something like that isn't my style, and nor will it aid the writer in the future.
Would I recommend this book? Without out a doubt. This is a book that you should definitely put on your list to read, or better yet just go and one click and get your copy now. It's worth it in all ways.
Dash Wallace intrigued me from the very beginning. As one of L.A.’s most eligible bachelors, Dash is a sexy athlete who gives off a mysterious vibe from not giving interviews and staying off camera unless he’s on the field. What won my heart though was his charm and awkwardness towards the woman he couldn’t get off his mind.
Vivian Foster is a beautiful (even though she doesn’t know it), sweet, school librarian who loves baseball. She goes above and beyond for the students at her school showing what a kind and generous person she is. Until a school field trip where she caught Dash’s eye, she lived an ordinary life. The only problem was he only wanted a relationship with an expiration date. Vivian wasn’t willing to give up on her morals only to be discarded in a few months when Dash went away to training camp.
I knew the limitations of my heart, and having a relationship with an expiration date would have hurt me more than cutting him off on my front steps.
I’ve heard of sports players with superstitions, but Dash brought it to a whole other level. Bit by bit he was slowly starting to lose his luck and needed to find a way to get it back. Never before had he wanted a woman as badly as he did Vivian but he couldn’t afford to have her cost him his career. Could Dash give her what she wanted or would his need for routine ruin everything they had built together?
I was breathless. I wanted this, heart and soul. I could fall into him in a blink and lose myself in him in a breath. I wanted him, but it was too much. He was asking me to be the conduit between him and his talent. To be responsible for his center, his routine, his very sanity. I didn’t know how to be a man’s center, his routine, his very sanity.
I really enjoyed this story and the characters. Both were smart and sweet. I liked how Vivian was true to herself and thought out her options. There wasn’t any unnecessary drama. Dash was a complicated mess that made me love him and all of his flaws. Add his love for reading and quoting lines from Shakespeare. Swoon! It was a fast read that I couldn’t put down. Since this is CD Reiss, there’s some seriously hot sex and dirty talk. Mostly the story was light-hearted, sweet, and made me laugh. I highly recommend HardBall to anyone looking for a fun, quick, sweet romantic read.
