Shooters, one of the best genres to exist and not enough mainstream love. Konami is usually seen as some of the first innovators to the scene with a pretty iconic history within it. Are they the best? Personally I have strayed from them in recent years in favor of the offerings of Cave, but these have a place in history and it's great to read about them such as my favorites being the Parodius and Twinbee series. There is some good content here, but only really for strictly shmup fans whereas the other book series can appeal to a broader audience. Hopefully they do more on other companies important to the genre as well.

I purchased this book for deeper knowledge about the tangled mess that is the Gradius and Lifeforce home video game ports, and learned far more about Konami shooters than I ever expected. The Unofficial Guide to Konami Shooters packs history and gameplay descriptions into a very solid book that boasts tons of screenshots. My only gripe? I caught approximately 3-4 typos that probably would've been caught with one more proofread.

The most in-depth guide for Konami games, anywhere. I can't recommend this enough.

I've never seen so much detail in reviews before. The author goes into the most miniscule differences between platforms, which tells you that the team clearly did their homework.

Fantstic read. Engaging pictures, and especailly worth it for die hard fans of classic games, shooters, or Konami as a whole.
