But this teapot is fantastic. Some demographic info: I'm a 21 year old man, freshly adult, and recently turned tea snob. So naturally I need a teapot to accompany, nay supplement my loose leaf, nose upturned, calling-tea-color-liqueur lifestyle. Previously I had been brewing my tea in a thermos with a little mesh insert, a practice that if employed by anyone else I would surely mock brazenly.
First impressions - I had read almost all of the reviews and some of them had mentioned that this teapot is rather small. When I opened it, I thought to myself "this teapot is rather small". But once I stilled my beating heart and actually made some tea I realized that it's pretty much the perfect size. Filling it close to the top, with a comfortable margin, I get enough tea for two very full mugs, and in my frugally heated apartment the pot keeps the tea piping hot for the second mugful.
The basket is nice and large. I've heard others say that this is necessary for the leaves to swim, luxuriate, mingle, copulate, bask in their collective consciousness. Shoot me if I ever anthropomorphise tea leaves like that. But it is nice to have a big basket so that the water actual reaches the center leaves. To that end, it would've been nice if they included a diving board so that the leaves could indulge their inner child (or bud, if you will), but now I'm splitting hairs.
It's made of glass, so it's breakable. I haven't broken mine yet, but I reserve the right to in the future, hopefully during the height of an argument.Read more ›
This is too funny! I purchased two of these tea pots in Tokyo at least 5-8 years ago. I use it daily as I am an avid tea drinker. I dropped the lid on my ceramic tile kitchen floor .. cracked it in half .. repaired it with glue .. and continued to use the kind of ugly looking thing for several years more rather than start using the second one I had in reserve! Afraid I might break that one also I guess!
Finally after several years of this depriving myself .. I asked my son who travels to Tokyo on business if he would mind purchasing me a third one so I could improve my esthetic experience of tea drinking! Well he just got back .. handed me the box and informed me that he couldn't find it at the same store in Tokyo but since he reads Japanese .. he googled it .. AND FOUND IT ON AMAZON! I just couldn't believe it!
You my dear reader do NOT have to take this circuitous route! After a lifetime of tea drinking .. having graduated from the early years of tea bags to the QUALITY of loose tea .. I have tried SO many different forms of tea preparation! This little unit is by far the absolute best! The basket is large enough to allow the tea leaves to circulate and bring forth their full flavor .. just wonderful!
For ease of preparation I just do this .. place filtered cold water up to the rim .. put the tea pot in the microwave for 6 minutes (in my microwave) for black tea .. less for green tea. Then place the basket in with 2+ teaspoons of tea .. put the lid on and let it steep to whatever strength level you like. Works like a charm! I wouldn't want to be without my little tea pot .. my tea cup is a large 2.25 cup and is filled to the brim with beautiful aromatic tea each morning! Enjoy .. without all my efforts!
1. It's large infuser allows tea leaves dance, i.e. they move along with water convection, which is necessary to make good tasting tea.
2. Infuser makes removing tea leaves easy.
3. Tea leaves motions are visible.
4. Good outlet shape, which does not allow spill.
I handle this carefully to avoid destroying.
Anyone can love it, but how many admire it. It's perfectly engineered for my needs.
Well it has a relatively small profile, when using 1 tbl of loose green tea, it yields exactly 3 cups of tea. So for me, it's exactly the right amount to make my daily fresh ginger and green tea drink. Which, if I say so myself, is delicious.
Freshly grated ginger, green tea, lemon juice and honey. The big mesh bowl allows both the green tea leaves and then the grated ginger to effiently release their befenifical nutrients. The glass top fits perfectly over the rim of the meshed bowl, that not a speck of ginger or green tea leaf pours into my mug. All the components are easily cleaned. So that suits my inner Monkness. This is a teapot, not a tea kettle, so don't try to use it on a stovetop. If you stay in the moment and handle the teapot with extreme care, you won't regret this purchase. It makes a perfect (3) cup of tea.

This teapot is beautiful and amazing and it really does go in the dishwasher! There is so much room in the basket, it's easy to load in too much. Measure carefully! Read morePublished 4 hours ago by Binks

I LOVE this teapot - everything about it. For glass, it seems very durable, however I like that it has a small spout because I tend to be clumsy and I feel a long elegant one... Read morePublished 6 days ago by Heidi N
