Evie grew up in a family that hunted supernaturals but she wasn't directly involved so she didn't believe in a lot of things - however when her and her sister are attacked by Vampires it means her sister is killed and Evie has been infected. Now she has to take over from her sister while she herself is dying. She is determined to find the vampire who killed her sister with the help of a vampire with amnesia called Jude. Can she do everything she needs to do before she runs out of time?
I LOVED this story. It had the right mix of drama, mystery and romance. Just when it felt that everything was going to be there was a twist in the story and everything changed.
Damned if I don't
Evie seems to have messed up the chance to not only cure vampirism but also herself. Add to that her cousin Carl is no longer talking to her, her sister's killer Anthony is still at large and Jude has confessed that he loves her. Scarily he might be a vampire but Evie is in love with him too - problem is as Jude rediscovers his past there is a risk that both Evie and Jude will be torn apart. Add to that the little problem of having to find a new Progenitor while the old one is in hiding and life is just peachy.
Wow - so much drama and excitement even if it is tinged with a large dose of sadness. There was so much happening here and the story was developing at a fast pace - I found myself reading it faster and faster as I was caught up with the story. OMG - I have to wait for the next book to be written now.
Damned either way
The vampire Antony who killed my sister and her husband is currently in control of everything and I have nothing in comparison. I can't find my niece Amelia, Jude has run away to surrender the the hunger that is taking control of all the vampires across the world, and I'm no longer the Harker so can't fix any of it. Can I find the courage to take the one last chance I have left to save us all?
Oh WOW. This is the last book in the Harker Trilogy and has everything looking hopeless before building up slowly to pull the threads together into a dramatic finale that then leaves you feeling both relieved and heartbroken. Thank goodness for the Epilogue is all I can say about that!! I loved the story which was well written and everything was clear and easy to understand. I could feel all the emotions involved and was really routing for them to succeed in the story.
We are put in the middle of the action from the first page and then for a bit action slows down, to race even faster.
Events are shocking sometimes, but it makes reading even more enjoyable. Erin Hayes once again made my laugh and cry in her book!
Characters are full, each one different. Edie is a woman that suddenly gets Harker's power after her sister died, and after that, her life for sure is not easy to live. She's character that you will root for! I can promise.
Jude - the vampire with amnesia. Who is he? What is his part in this whole thing? He's helping Edie to find her way, but is that the thing he does?
I can tell that one thing will blow your mind like mine ;)
Damned if I Don't
That was the book full of chaos, fight, anarchy.
That was a fast story full of secrets that made my head spin as some were just unimaginable to me - like who Jude really was (before losing his memory). That was just WOW.
Great book 2 in Harker series! I want book 3, NOW!
Damned Either Way
This book starts with Apocalypse. People are dying, vampires are killing due to Hunger. Add to it Harker with no power, psycho new Progenitor, lover with Hunger problem, kidnapped nice and you will get Edie's new world.
Will she manage to defeat Anthony? What will happen to Amelia? Join Edie and Jude in the last installment of Harker trilogy, that reveals every puzzle really slowly to a reader!
Evie Comes from a long line of vampire hunters called "The Harker" and her older sister is the current Harker. They don't kill all vampires, only the ones that prey on humans and kill them. While Evie and her sister are out shopping on Christmas Eve, they're attached by a large group of vampires and her sister is killed and Evie is infected with the vampire virus, which won't turn her into a vampire because of her Harker blood, but will eventually kill her, which is what Anthony, the vampire who infected her, wanted because she's part of his master plan to take over all the vampires. In Evie's quest to locate Anthony so she can kill him, Jude, a vampire who she's immediately drawn to, tries to help and protect her, but he doesn't remember his life except for the past 50 years. Her brother-in-law and three year old niece are captured by Anthony, she's almost killed, Jude starts to remember bits and pieces of his prior life, and Evie almost dies!
This is a great trilogy! At the end of each book, you're so happy to have the next one to begin reading because the author immediately draws you into their lives and you can't wait to find out what happens.
Book 1- Damned if I do
Wow! This was awesome! This was my first time reading Erin Hayes and wow was I ever captivated! There is constant drama, action and suspense that fill this book so it's never a good time to put it down. Hayes' characters are not ones that are "in a bad situation but look on the bright side" types. These people live in a dark world and don't hold their breath for a brighter future. With that bring sad I love all the characters and look forward to seeing what happens with everyone but mostly Edie and Jude!
Book 2- Damned if I Don't
Holy smokes! Poor Edie, poor Jude, poor Carl! Seems like everything they try to do whether good or bad blows up in their faces! This is another book packed with drama, action, and tons of suspense while Edie, Jude, and Carl try to save the world from a deranged, crazy, just plain mean vampire! I'm anxious to see what happens next. I THINK I have an idea of what's going go happen. Let's see if I'm right!!...
Book 3-Damned Either Way
What a wonderful ending!! In some senses I knew what would happen and in others I was completely caught off guard! I'm so glad it ended on one hand but on the other totally bummed its over! Great trilogy and a great read!
