Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man will never be considered for a major award, and I don't care. This film was created to satisfy a lust for violence, one liners, and awesomeness. The lead roles were tailored for Don Johnson and Mickey Rourke. This is a buddy action movie that delivers the goods with few sentimental breaks in between. Don't consider this movie a guilty pleasure, just call it a pleasure.
I really enjoy watching this movie, mainly because of the Harleys they ride. They say it ruined Mickey's R's career and sent D. Johnson back to TV but I feel the critics were too hard on the movie. There's plenty action, great actors and a good plot. Get it and have fun.

I have to give this a 5 star review because when I was a kid I loved it.... I watched it again recently and it's not the same movie I remember.....and I hate that lol. Could it REALLY have been as cheesey as it seems now????
This is exactly what I prefer to watch. I like the action and violence. There is plenty of shooting. There is plenty of hand-to-hand punching, kicking and stabbing. There is explosions. There is plenty of pursuits. I appreciate Amazon Prime Video recommending this in email.
Still love the movie. Yes, it's a bit dated. Yes, its not great acting. Yes, the story line is a bit far fetched. But it is an entertaining movie and the broship between Johnson and Rourke is great. I would prefer a different ending. Why is Rourke still running? Why didn't Johnson go back to the girlfriend who obviously loves him? The action is fun, though. I've probably seen this 4 or 5 times.

I forgot how much schlock these movies from the 80's had...it's a typical buddy movie, with a little more heart than the usual buddy cop films from those times. It's watchable as long as you're know it hasn't aged well.
This is a much deeper more evolved movie than most realize at first glance. On the surface, its a simple action adventure movie about the little guy vs. the BIG corporation. It has enough action in it to satisfy the action movie buff many times over with everything from exploding motorcycles to jumping off of rooftops. On a more subtle level, character development is strong and quick. The internal demons that haunt Harley Davidson (Mickey Rourke) and the Marlboro Man (Don Johnson) are very real bringing these characters to life. Their moral dilemmas and loyalty to themselves, each other and their friends are believable. The movie does take the 'action' movie formula: Good Guys versus Bad Guys but includes an element often not seen in 'classic action' movies where the good guys actually have flaws. This movie is more 'classical' in that respect where the villian is the villian, but the good guy isn't perfect. For a comparative type movie, 'The Replacement Killers' is a good example: Action Movie where the 'good guys' aren't necessarily all that good but 'Do the Right' thing. Another way to view it would be 'Robin Hood' meets the 21st Century. This is must have 'Classic' of eighties film making. Amazingly deep dialog for an 'action' movie. It includes excellent cameo performances by Chelsea Field, Vanessa Williams, and Tia Carrera. The last three lines of the movie are classic in themselves: Harley: 'Hey, where you headed?', Girl: 'Nowhere Special.', Harley: 'Get on, I'll take you there'.

Received the Blu-ray today and put it into my Blu-ray player (a Pioneer BD-LX58) and up popped the message "Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man. INVALID REGION." Never had a problem before playing US Import discs until this one. Unfortunate, as it's a good movie.
5.0 out of 5 starsHD and the Marlbourough Man great
