These speakers look and sound great, but the automatic sleep feature is annoying and it looks like it cannot be disabled. It routinely goes to sleep while using the computer, effectively muting any sounds other than constant audio. This happens over both bluetooth and the line-in connection. To make things worse, these speakers also make an annoying bleep sound that is quite loud whenever they go to sleep (and sometimes when they wake too). This sound is distracting while working and even worse when it happens at night if the computer wakes or when the speakers first go to sleep. I can't believe there is no way to turn this off.

I'm a big H/K fan, they make great products but this oversight is a major disappointment.

The NOVA's are amazing....that alone is review enough but now let me give you some details.
Whats in the box: 2 Nova Speakers, Power Supply, 3.5mm Auxillary cable, Documentation.
Inputs: Bluetooth, 3.5mm AUX jack, and optical jack.
Uses: GREAT/SPECTACULAR SOUND!!!

Test Devices used: iPhone 5s via Bluetooth and Aux, Samsung Galaxy S4 via Bluetooth using NFC to pair, and plugged in via 3.5mm Aux to our Vizio television.

Look: Simply put these are about the size of a green honeydew melon with the front chopped off and a circular rubber stand added to the bottom for stability and vibration control.

Most of my testing was done with my iPhone as that is where I have my entire music collection. I tested with a variety of music types: pop, rock, dub-step (courtesy my 17 year old son), and classical Hindi (Indian) vocal music.

Packaging: Excellent. The speakers are individually wrapped in a fabric material bag and also have protective plastic covering around the plastic to help against scratches. I left the plastic wrap around them for testing...dont want to dirty them up so quickly.

So here is how it works: First you plug the right speaker into the left speaker with an included cord. The cord is approximately 4-5 feet in length. Second, plug the power supply into the left speaker. Note: The left speaker is the main control center with volume, power, input, and bass controls. Third, pick your device and begin the pairing process with bluetooth or plug in the included 3.5mm aux cable to the speakers. (Minor negative note here...the included directions are images and must be looked at thoroughly to understand..but easy once you get the hang of it).

Bought the Harman Kardon Nova speakers to use with a Laptop I have in my den. The speakers sound great and look awesome, but the huge negative to using these as computer speakers is that they have a built-in automatic sleep feature that puts the speakers to sleep after 10 minutes when no audio is present. And when they go to sleep, they make a very loud "BLEEEEEP" sound which is incredibly annoying. Not only that, but the speakers take upwards of 15 seconds to wake up from sleep mode, so if you are surfing on your computer and click on a Youtube video or select a song from you music library, the video or song will be playing, but for the first 15 seconds or so there will be no sound because the speaker hasn't had time to wake up yet. Incredibly annoying.

Just amazing and fantastic design and looks! I just got these today and unpacked them right away and placed on top of my JBL S310 (studio series) floor standing speakers. I am blown away, these speakers have a very similar sound as my much more expensive and bigger S310s. There is a bass enhance button and i had to turn it off.. Dont need it. Its just fine in its natural state. The highs are also very smooth and not at all icy! The volume control in itunes triggers the volume control on the speakers too over bluetooth.. Very cool!

Right now listening to pearl jams "sirens" and these speakers really do justice to eddie veders amazing vocals! My only criticism: the cable connecting one speaker to the other is too short.. If i wanted to place them on my bedside tables, it would not work. I will need to find a longer cable somewhere! Overall great job HK, 5 star in my books

I didn't need a home theater system for new mac pro and thunderbolts displays and I wanted something stylish that didn't take up a lot of room. These fit the bill perfectly. They sound great and they have excellent base for a small speaker and the mids and highs are perfect. They also look very cool. Set up was a snap.

I've been using Harman Kardon's brilliant Soundsticks for over three years and have never encountered a set of computer speakers with sound so perfect. Movies, music, games, audiobooks, classical, techno--any audio source you throw at it, the Soundsticks make it sound absolutely flawless. In consequence, I was thrilled to try out this new wireless NOVA speakers. Here are my findings when you compare the two:

NOVA SPEAKERS:

PROS:

- Space friendly design with large built-in subwoofers (so you don't need a separate woofer)

- Great sound, no distortion at high volume, rich bass backed by an optional bass-boost button, small size but will fill any room with rich audio

- Classy, stylish design

- Instant bluetooth setup

CONS:

Eco Shut Down Mode: after about 20 minutes of no audio, the speakers will automatically turn themselves off. You will know when this happens because they make a quick--albeit startling--beep noise. The speakers automatically return to life when they detect an audio source again. This seems to be a new and widely unpopular feature. I'm not entirely opposed to it, since I like to save energy as much as anybody else, but I won't say that it's not a little annoying. I have jumped out of my skin a few times when the unexpected beep caught me by surprise. Soundsticks do not have this feature.

Sound Quality: Anything by Harman Kardon will sound amazing, but when I compare them to their own Soundsticks, I find that the audio isn't as good. Vocals are less clear and slightly muddied by the bass, high-notes in general tend to be more subdued, kick bass has a less crisp thump.
