This is an inspirational love story about how my wife and I were brought together by Traumatic Brain Injuries. It takes us and our families through the pain, grief, acceptance, rediscovery, and rehabilitation process necessary to overcome these injuries. This moving story provides an understanding into the struggles of individuals going through the long recovery process from a brain injury.
In 1986 we were both involved in separate, near fatal, single motor vehicle crashes involving alcohol that ended with Traumatic Brain Injury. Our story is one of the triumphs of love, and how it can overcome any obstacle, even traumatic brain injury. Join me as I explain the struggles both my wife and I faced and how our love saved us.

I've known and worked with Jeff for the past 12 years in the emergency room where he volunteers. I'd come to know in very broad strokes some aspects of his past injuries and recovery during the course of our relationship. This book is a poignant and detailed account of his accident, his physical and psychological pain and loss in its immediate aftermath, and his lengthy road to recovery, a road he is still on. I've witnessed many of the experiences he documents, specifically his experiments with diet, physical exercise and mental gymnastics in his attempts -- remarkably successful attempts, I should add -- to improve the elasticity of his brain. What this book documents is the single most impressive quality of Jeff's character -- his unwillingness to succumb to despair during the course of his recovery. The comfort and assurance of his faith, the hope of improvement and ultimately success, and (the greatest of these) the love of his wife and family have helped him overcome a devastating injury and lead a life that is both meaningful and productive. This is a fine book.

What an Amazing Story!! Jeff and Kim's story is such an inspiration! I learned a lot about how the impact of having a TBI can have on an individual. This is a true survival story. It was wonderful to read a story of two people who are able to take a tragic event that happened in their lives and turn it around to try and reach and bless other individuals. I am excited to see where this journey leads them.

As a ICU nurse with a background in caring for brain injury patients I would recommend this book to anyone who cares for Neuro patients. It is a wonderful story of tragedy turned to triumph for both Jeff and Kim.
