we've never been a fan of goodnight moon, but the stories our toddler loves from this are: caps for sale, Pete's a Pizza (her favorite), Baby Says, I Can Do It, and If you give a mouse a cookie. There are so many more to love--it's a true treasur-y.
Is it too heavy to hold over your head as you and your little one lie on your backs in bed? Well--yes if you're really sleepy it will wake you up when it falls onto your and your toddler's head. so we read most of this book with the book resting on something. still--worth it.
this book quickly became so beloved, we purchased another harper collections book with a white cover--sadly that was a huge disappointment. they really tried to save the trees with that book--four tiny microfilm sized illustrations per single page. all of the words, but only 25% of the emotional, illustrated fun.
Side note: The description of this book is inaccurate. It says that this book houses ‘Chrysanthemum’. It’s not in this treasury. It left out ‘Baby Says’.
The great thing about the "Harper Collins Treasury of Picture Book Classics" is that each page in the original story book is one page in the compilation. So they're nice and large and full size. My early readers can read the pages easily--and the large illustrations keep my pre-readers interested.
Although I own many of these as stand-alone books, I still am glad I bought the compilation. It's great for story time--as we find ourselves reading extra stories just by flipping through. We also discovered a new favorite called, "Pete's A Pizza." Since first reading it, we frequently turn our kids into pizzas on grumpy days too!
