If you are searching for Metallica's power and energy in this album then you are making a mistake. If you are a Metallica fan that appreciates the subtle aspects of their music such as their moving melodies then this album is worth the money.
It makes great background music when you just want to relax.

If you are a metalhead that appreciates subleties in life, this is a great album. I am a huge Metallica fan (before they went mainstream... after the black album). This album covers the older music, so if you like songs after the black album, this will not have anything of interest. I find this album great to play in the background for relaxing times (e.g., for a lullabuy for my kids to getthem to sleep or while my wife nurses). At the same time it takes me away to a time not too long ago when I can sit there with my child and enjoy the moment while looking back at my life and all the good times I had (while listening to Metallica) instead of some corny nursery rhymes... It keeps me sane. The music is solely harps... no words, no other instruments. I can also play it at work and no one bothers me (For whom the bell tolls is my favorite). For those complaining about that its not "powerful", not everything that is powerful has to have screeching guitars, galloping tracks, an chorus lines. If you want that, then get the original tracks. Again, this is great to sit back and relax. You can have friends over and play this while sitting back and enjoying some of your favorite drinks, food, or smoke and carry a conversation. I don't claim to be a classical music fan, but this is calming, but at the same time very powerful and lifting...

Metallica stripped of all its energy. What's next? Metal and Sebastian, the Metal's answer to Belle and Sebastian?
