About Harrison Graves MD
About The Author
Born near Athens, Georgia, Dr. Graves attended the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia before moving to Minneapolis for internship and residency in Emergency Medicine. His accolades include medical director, EMS, associate professor of Emergency Medicine, UNC-Chapel Hill, and election to Fellow status (FACEP) in the American College of Emergency Physicians.
An avid world traveler, Dr. G has hiked the Himalayas, done missionary work in Honduras, staffed the clinic on St. John (U.S. Virgin Islands) and sailed the high seas as a Holland America Line physician.
In 2005, Dr. Graves left the ER behind to pursue a new interest: the Yoga of Sound, aka Mantra Yoga or Ayurvedic Sound Healing. It had been his good fortune to do a year-long Yoga of Sound internship with master sound yogi, Russill Paul (Anirud Jaidev) of Chennai, author of The Yoga of Sound. Years in the ER taught him that many illnesses, especially those that are anxiety and stress-related, can be best treated with Ayurveda, lifestyle changes and Yoga. In addition, Dr. G studied Kundalini Yoga and Ayurveda for two years at the Wisdom Fire School of Yoga in Berkeley, California.
In 2010, he began teaching Mantra Yoga, presenting Yoga of Sound workshops at yoga studios and wellness centers along the East Coast.
In 2014, he published The Mystical Chakra Mantras: How to Balance Your Own Chakras with Mantra Yoga, the world's first interactive eBook on mantra yoga, with links to YouTube where readers may experience the mantras.
In 2015, he began to write alternative medical blogs, taught Mantra Meditation at the McLean Meditation Institute, and published Mantra Meditation: An Alternative Treatment for Anxiety and Depression.
New for 2018: Mindfulness Made Easy: An online course from NovusEnergia.org.
and a new book: Alternative Pain Relief: A Pill-Free Tool Kit.
Dr. Graves currently lives in the mountains of North Carolina where he writes alternative medical blogs and teaches part-time at the Art of Living Retreat Center and Spa, near Boone, NC.
He is available to teach The Yoga of Sound, the yoga of music and mantra.
