Clay is such a lovely wolf. He's a lovely man. He cares about his wolves and their pups. He's devoted to not rocking the boat as much as possible. He doesn't turn in people who try to run him down in their vehicles when he's walking! The guy is literally too much. I adore him. I can see why his pack chose to elect him to the role of Alpha. I also enjoyed seeing that Alpha is an elected position rather than one which is inherited or which is "won" by the biggest, strongest, meanest wolf or whatever attribute is necessary to wrest control for themselves. I liked seeing him put the pack before his own happiness even when any other shifter in the series would probably have just jumped at the chance to have a HEA with their mate.
Harry isn't a traditional romance hero. He's not hopelessly good-looking or rich. He's a worn fellow who has lived his life. He's over forty and has some gray to his hair. He is public about his sexuality. He's happy living a quiet life which honestly? I really envied him when I was reading about his simple pleasures in nothing more than hiking, camping, fishing, or having a grill session outdoors for his partner's pack. I loved how Harry integrated well with the whole pack and how he gave Clay enough space until it was emotionally too damaging to himself to let the guy twist in the wind any longer.
I would recommend Harry Ever After to anyone who enjoys a sweet read with low heat, heroes who are imperfect and over the average age of romance novels, and readers who enjoy basking in the quiet comfort of true love.
They go from friends to more but Clay is so afraid of being hurt he takes a long time to commit.
Harry is very patient. It was good to see the whole pack involved in this story.
Made it a bit different to the others in the series wher the main focus is the couple and pack mentioned in passing.
