The video quality is not the best, but hopefully it gives you an impression of how beautiful this book truly is.
If you know a Harry Potter fan--from six to sixty, or even older--who wishes s/he had gone to Hogwarts instead of their muggle high school or college, THIS is the book to buy them for a Christmas gift, a birthday gift, or just a way to say "I know you love this book . . . and I love you, too." Buy it, share it, and pass on the magic: This book, in this wonderfully illustrated edition, is one for the ages.
I tried to take pictures of some of the interactive elements, but they look so much better in person. The Chess scene was my favorite, but I couldn’t take a decent photo of it because it’s double sided.
Another thing that I like about this book is that it’s small. The first illustrated books were massive coffee-table type books, and really heavy. This book still has illustrations to help young readers, but it’s just slightly larger than a typical paperback book.
The only negative thought that I have is that this probably shouldn’t be given to children. The interactive elements are made of paper, so a child would probably rip them pretty quickly. I’d read it with my kids, but put it away afterwards.
I can’t wait to see the other books!
It arrived today and after looking through it, he changed his tune. I bought this for my kids, but I'm keeping it for myself now!
The illustrations are gorgeous with a very different character than the other illustrated version. This is inmersive and interactive in a way that wraps me in nostalgia. When I read this its like I'm 11 again and reading it for the first time.
Can't wait to see the rest of the books in this format!
