In a quest for global domination, RISK players sweep across a detailed game board that is actually a map of the world in the 1880s. The playing pieces are detailed military miniatures that opponents use to wage battles, capture the other player's troops and in turn, reinforce their own army. RISK is a game as complex as you make it, the object is to capture and claim 42 territories. Play three variations: World Domination, Capital Risk, and Secret Mission Risk with additional Mission cards.

Nothing against Risk. This version cost a little fortune compared to other board games and I was expecting something refined. Instead it is clearly cheaply made in China!! I'm not expecting the cards to last long, they are very thing and flexible!! The little soldiers are not made of solid rubber but cheap plastic! don't expect them to last either...
This is definitely a rip off!!!
In Europe you can get the Tournament version for around $70 and everything is HIGH QUALITY!! you even get a place to through your dice made of green velvet!! the miniature are made of solid rubber/plastic and you have reusable plastic bags for each color! On the contrary in this version you have to cut the bags and that's it ( I use elastics to keep them closed)..
Do not spend your money on this one! try and look a better version..

Game seems good, box not, missing some pieces

Box lid in bad shape. Ripped on every corner and was very hard to get out of the shipping box. Otherwise seems like it is all there. Haven't counted all the pieces yet.

Update: It is missing 8 pieces total 352/360. If it was missing pieces it should have been mentioned in the description. Don't rememeber seeing that listed.

very nice quality, and i can honestly say that it is exactly what i was expecting. when i was searching for a game of risk, i wanted one with the actual soldier molds. and with this product, that is exactly what you get. my only problems are, they dont give you a good way to store all of the pieces, with kinda sucks. but also, though this isnt the product's fault, i didnt realize how tedious it would be to maneuver the little men. i can honestly say after playing with this, i much prefer the usual representations of the armies rather than the actual armies themselves. the little blocks or triangles that most risks have you play with are much simpler and easier to hold on the territories, and easier to store and keep track of.

you will get exactly what you are after with this, but my opinion is that you should really try to alter what your after. go with the army representations. these soldier are very tedious to work with.

Great Game, Great Version

I love the game of Risk. We played it incessantly as kids (although one could argue that a single game qualified since it takes 2-4 hours to play and the more you cheat the longer it takes) and I wanted to introduce my nephew to it.

I wanted the version with the little army men so that the 3 and 4 year old could play with the extra little figurines while the 8 year old and I played the actual game. That wasn't quite as successful as I'd hoped... ;)

The primary con to the little action figure version: It's much less intuitive which pieces are "more" armies than others... it's a bit random (the cannon was one value and the cavalry was another. without looking at the game I couldn't tell you which was 5 and which was 10). Since my nephew was entirely new to the game it was hard to explain why one piece was worth more than another.

That said, he was plenty old enough to play the game despite the 10 and up rating on it.

If you've never played Risk, it's a great game that's worth playing. I'm sure it teaches all sorts of strategic thinking and basic math skills but really it's mostly worth it because it's FUN. Given that the version with the little guys is ~$10 more expensive and it doesn't add anything to the game-play you could buy this version or the more basic version.

Great game! I can't say anything good or bad about the newwer versions of this game, but if your looking for a great older version, this is it. Very fun to play and relatively easy. This game is part strategy and a little luck (sometimes the dice hate you).

Best strategy board game ever... after Chess, of course!

Chess cannot be compared to any Strategy games.. ever. But, if I chose one, it would be Risk. I own it for past 5 years and had lot of fun with friends and family playing this game. You might want to make few home rules once you play a lot and it gives whole new twist to original game.

Few home rules you might want to add is to allow attack from multiple regions or to be able to continue attack from other different regions.

Best strategy is to concentrate army and capture small continents like Aussie, Africa or South America and build base from there on.

Playing with 'Missions' in this game enhances the excitement and induces suspense as well.

If anyone likes to play Chess or Bridge; Risk is MUST OWN game.

I was always a huge fan of the Risk, and so I decided to pick this game up. The board is well built and so are the pieces. However, I do have a very few complaints. The board, as with all boards is very fragile if you fold it the wrong way, and the pieces(small characters) are very easy to lose. But those are complaints, not against the board, but against the users carefulness. Overall, a very nice game.
