There is no board game, just the game pieces in a brain container! I do wish the container clicked shut though as it can fall open easily if you grab it wrong. There are game cards, clay, dice and a timer. The questions and tasks are fun and make players be quick on their toes, have fun and be quirky! The size too makes it great to keep handy wherever you play - we keep it in the family room for quick play!
All of the pieces are conveniently stored in the "brain" container. There are 200 game cards that each contain a one-minute (or less) game. Games range from sculpting things out of clay or creating words from the lettered blocks and other "traditional" games from Cranium.
You can play with as little as 2 players and as many as 6 players. It's easy to set-up and is entertaining to play. I hope they offer some expansion packs for the mini-games to add more games down the line.
What I like:
Each card IS repeatable. When he shuffled them one day the cards we did and didn't do got all mixed, so we ended up repeating some, and it was OK!
Plenty of cards!
Variety- just what Cranium is known for. Draw, write, move, run, sculpt, think. It's all in there.
Funny Brain Top- My son loves to wear it like a hat while we play.
You can play it as a game, or just grab a card for a quick break.
Teamwork- Most of the cards you work together, it isn't winner or loser.
We usually get the card done before time runs out. With kids younger than 8 it may be tougher to do. And since I do it for the game factor and not winning usually if the timer does run out we just keep going. But while we have cut it close it rarely runs out.
Cons- I wish there were card expansions. I suspect that by next Christmas I'll have played these same cards 100 times.
Cranium clay contains wheat. :( So I have to scrub everything throughly anytime a card involves sculpting. I'm going to just replace it with modelling clay.
The pieces move around a bit. There are organizer slots in the brain to hold all the components, but they do move around. So when you take the lid off pieces go tumbling. It came with a plastic piece that held them in place for display, but of course it lasted about 5 seconds after it came out.Read more ›

Rules were very unclear and many tasks were impossible to accomplish in 1 minute, especially when it involved the modeling clay. Very disappointed in the game. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Lynette S. Webber

Not at all like Cranium but very good for younger children. Seven year old niece loved it and enjoyed all the activities. Some were challenging - writing with you toes! Read morePublished 12 months ago by zensm
