People ought to stop accusing Hasselblad of environmental irresponsibility. The Mahogany is a rare but not endangered species of lizards found in the rain forests of Borneo harvested for its unusual wood-like skin, which is actually the encrustation of a parasitic fungus. The fungus causes hallucination and even death in any would-be predator, thus symbiotically protecting the lizard. Hasselblad has developed a proprietary process whereby a Mahogany lizard's skin is properly detoxified and grafted onto the LUNAR. This is why this version of the LUNAR feels so "organic" in your hand, as if it were an extension of your body. This alone will improve your photography infinitely. Is infinitude worth $7000? Yes.

Another important advantage of Mahogany is that it is extremely durable and hard; in fact its hardness index approaches nephrite. In a physically dangerous situation, as when you encounter a poisonous lizard in Borneo, the LUNAR can be reliably used as a thrown or swung weapon, or at the very least as a deterrent.

Blessed indeed, are the fortunate few who can afford such instant celebrity. Whip out your plastic now and you will be able to take ownership of this key to the upper echelons of the photographic in-crowd. You too can have the unwashed masses think you belong in the ranks of folks like: the Kardashians, Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber and other famous photographers. If you have money to burn, let the Lunar strike the match. Let Hasselblad introduce you to your inner fop.

First let me say that I don't own this camera, nor would I ever and nor should anyone on the face of this planet. A quick Google search easily shows that Hasselblad has taken the $950 Sony NEX-7, wrap it in a plastic sleeve and resell it at $7,000! It's the equivalent of taking an iPhone, slipping it into a rubber casing and reselling it for 7x's the price.

I can't believe that a company like Hasselblad with it's reputation could ever put something like this out and call it a Hasselblad. Hasselblad has gone out of their way to dump a product onto the market which apparently is an attempt to prove just how stupid some people with money must be.

I started to the do the math: If Hassy sells this $950 camera for $7,000, then that means it's actual value is 1/7th of the asking price. So by that deduction, I have to assume that ALL of the Hasselblad cameras and lenses are over priced by 700%. Their HD4-40 which sells at $17,000 - that should be selling for $2,300. Which by the way is on par to the selling price of their film cameras. A similar camera to the HD4-40 currently sells new for $6,800 - That's $11,000 less than the Hasselblad.

By putting this camera out at this insulting and absurd price, Hasselblad appears to have proven to the world that we're all being taken to the cleaners by the camera manufactures. They've said that the cost of CCD and CMOS chips were the reason for the high price of digital cameras. However this doesn't make sense since these chips are now being inexpensively produced by the millions. What they all have been doing for years is factoring in the saving the consumer makes by not having to pay for film and processing and add that annual, or multi-annual, cost into the price of the cameras.
