"Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress"
Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? Nina agreed to marry Max so that he could obtain his green card for one million dollars. They have a three year contract that is perfectly synchronized to the very last detail. Max wants his green card so that he can remain in the United States the rest of his life. Nina needs the money to keep her grandmother's home. It's the perfect arrangement. Neither want a real marriage. Neither of them wants to fall in love. In fact, Nina doesn't believe in love. Love has let her down her entire life.
As Nina and Max embark on their arrangement they soon find they sincerely like one another. They find their attraction slowly building into something more. Something that isn't in the contract. Once they admit their true feelings it changes everything. Their contract is null and void.
Once they have broke the contract it has broken both of them. Now they have to face the real truths of their lives. They have to learn to deal with their real emotions. They have to choose their future.
Nicole Williams once again delivered an emotional love story that leaves the reader swooning. I highly recommend reading Hate Story by Nicole Williams.
The pace was good. Slow at first and then speeds up more toward the middle.
Nina is about to lose her house, which is the only thing she has left after her grandmother died. Working numerous job isn't helping anymore.
Max visa is about to expire. He doesn't want to complicate his life by getting married for love so he does what any man would do. Makes a contract and pays someone to marry him. It'll all work out so long as it stays a business transaction.
Nina agrees to marry Max for a million dollars so Max to get his green card. Heard this story before? Well maybe, but Not quite like this!
This story is told from dual POV which is important because we see the development of feelings from both sides. Max is initially enamored with Nina while she takes a bit more time to warm up.
Max tends to shy away from the truth because Nina doesn't want to hear it. They each have their issues as they navigate dating, moving in, engagement, and impending marriage.
"And that was when I started to wonder if maybe it would be okay if I fell in love with Nina Burton. So long as it was pretend."
Will they be able to turn this hate story into happily ever after? ;)
Until next time,
***I️’m giving it four simply beautiful stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
