#Hater is the second book in the Hashtag Series and is definitely a worth reading book.
I was afraid that the second book in this series, since it was a continuation from the characters from the first book and they pretty much had their happy ending, might spoil my love for Romeo and Rimmel, but once again, Cambria Hebert proved me how good of an author she is.
In this new Hashtag book, we get an insight of how good Romeo and Rimmel can be as a couple and how they live keeps going after they have reached their happy ending in #Nerd. However, as any other couple, they have problems, even though not relationship problems, Romeo's fame around campus threatens a bit Rimmel and her insecurities and then there's Zach, he's not happy with Romeo about what he did in #Nerd and is willing to make him pay.
I was expecting some minor drama, but this book escalated quickly once the real problems started. And I think this is what brought this new story to a whole new level and what will make the Hashtag fans love this story as much as the first one. Because we have to remember that Romeo and Rimmel are not a conventional couple, so their problems and their drama should be as unconventional and mind-blowing as their relationship.
I found myself invested in the story more than in the first one, because this one exuded danger from every single page and I was dying to see how this one would end. And with an ending that would leave you breathless and with mixed feelings: on one hand, because it's an ending that Romeo and Rimmel's fans would accept, and on the other, because it's an ending that will twist this series and open the door for the following book in the series.
In #Nerd we get to meet the characters, get to know them and their story. But in #Hater we feel their passion, we immerse in their pain and feelings and we get to see them as a couple. Cambria Hebert did an excellent job and I am really looking forward to see what comes next!
I cannot contain the love I have for the follow-up to Cambria Hebert’s #Nerd. #Hater was even better than I expected and I am still reeling from all things Romeo and Rimmel. Ugh! These two together just weave some crazy magic. I absolutely loved, loved that they stick together not only through the best of times but even in the worst of times. With #crazyZach still on the loose and more determined now than ever to have his revenge, he takes it up 10 notches into the cray scale. The creepy and demonic plots which he actually acts on irked me and disturbed me. I was scared for Rimmel as she was the true pawn to Zach’s antics. The suspense factor that the author wrote into this book was so well done. I am incredibly picky and quick to judge when it comes to any sort of suspense. I think so many authors make the mistake of taking things a little too far, almost over-dramatizing scenes which in turn creates something just way too cheesy for my taste. But in my opinion, Cambria did a fine job with leveling it out enough for my heart rate to spike.
Let me tell you, I was putty over Romeo in this book. I madly, deeply fell in love with everything about him. He made my heart race and my insides feel all gooey and happy. I loved how he always had Rimmel’s back and always put her first. To me, this was the icing on the cake. I read countless of romance books (and proud of it) but I have to say that Romeo’s character stands out because of this. Many heroes love their heroines and they aren’t shy to let you know about it. Whether that be known in the physical sense or verbally. But with Romeo, it goes far beyond that. It’s his unconscious, almost natural way of always making it about Rimmel; she comes before football, his mom, his dad, and even himself. The best part about it? He isn’t the type of character who only sounds good in a book but in real life would come off a scary stalker. He really is the kind of guy that we all deserve to have in our lifetime. And of course Rimmel, she is #onekickarsenerd. I loved her just as equally as I did Romeo. Smart, beautiful, caring, and feisty when she needed to be. Just like her other half, she always has Romeo’s best interest at heart. I think that she’s extremely brave to love him as much as she does because she seems to have so much more to lose if everything went awry. Though that is always in the back of her mind, she works through it and she gives everything her all. Like I said, #onekickarsenerd.
#Hater had me on the edge of my seat, not only because of Zach’s devious antics but because I was hypnotized by everything that was happening in the book. I was a woman on a mission, turning those pages one after another in a hurry because I just wanted to find out what in the heck was going to happen next. But I do confess that I’d find myself turning back to certain pages to savor the words being spoken between Romeo and Rimmel. These two are just the ultimate best! I cannot wait to see how their story wraps up in the 3rd book of the series, #Player. So excuse me while I #oneclick and spend a few more hours with one of my top ever favorite fictional couples.
