The text of the paperback edition of the book I received, published in 2015 by McAllister Editions, is not the text of "Hatha Yoga: Or The Yogi Philosophy of Physical Well-Being" by Yogi Ramacharaka, as indicated by the title. It is, in fact, the text of "Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy," also by Yogi Ramacharaka.
I was surprised that the subject matter was so different when I started reading the book. Amazon's Look Inside feature of both books reveals where the incorrect text came from. It is not Amazon's fault, but the publisher's. It was also my fault that I did not check the Look Inside feature of this particular edition before ordering it. Having said that, it is a well made book in terms of the physical book and the "Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy" content is a great read. It was inexpensive (I paid $7.45), therefore I have decided to keep it.
The only problem is that the title of the book is wrong. Please be aware of this if you order the paperback edition with the silhouette of the Buddha in front of a red ocean with an orange-red gradient colored sky.

The title is completely misleading, completely.. This is not a book about Hatha Yoga.. Hatha yoga in sanskrit definition is the yoga of physique, force, postures, called asanas. This book is a reprint of William Walker Atkinson (Yogi Ramacharaka ) book's titled Advanced Course in Yoga. It got nothing to do with Hatha Yoga.. It is more about Jnana Yoga or Raja Yoga which are yoga of knowledge. Hatha Yoga is the first step on the ladder in yogi philosophy. This is not a book about Hatha Yoga at all..!!!!!!

This book is one of the best I have ever read. It is not about postures, it is about the way to take care of your body and your health. It is chock full of information on how to improve your health in a variety of ways (some of which you can begin while you are reading the book), and many of which are very painless! From breathing, to chewing, to what to eat, to sunning, to ventilation, to bathing, to fresh air, to exercise and so on, he gives you fantastic advice for improving your health and your life. And he also explains WHY you should do the different things, and how they affect your body.
An absolute gem of a book; most highly recommended!
Just wanted to add that this same author's book, The Science of Breath, is also a must have book, for health. He explains how to breathe the ''full yogi breath'' and ''rhymthic breathing'' as well as other types of breathing for different things; the book is WONDERFUL! I would highly recommend these two books for anyone that wants to improve their health (and even if they are already healthy). The information in both books is just a goldmine!

This version has been sanitized, with all the actual exercises and practices removed. Ironically, there’s a disclaimer on the title page warning readers not to judge him because he’s a product of his time. The editors of this edition removed what is useful and thoughtful, only to keep the new age woo.

This is a great book but not what’s on the cover
This is actually The Science of Psychic Healing by Ramacharaka not Hatha Yoga
It seems the printing gets mixed up and prints these under the wrong cover and title page
Check out the what’s inside function and other reviews so you know what you’re getting
I gave it as a gift after receiving. A bargain at this price

Great book! I was looking to learn some new exercises on yoga; I got more than I bargained for! I learned that there are more to yoga than I thought. Although I am interested in physical and health aspect of yoga, I learned much about other aspects, like philosophy behind having good health. The notion of nature and being and living in accordance to nature, as much as we can, is my new goal of improving my health and well being after reading this book. I often go back to specific chapters that motivate me and actually feel great by doing the exercise both physically and mentally (spiritually)! Don't expect many shiny exercise pictures etc. though! There aren't any. This is something much deeper than just exercises...

This book has some interesting information, but clearly no one spent the time to do any proofreading whatsoever. For example, Chapter 6 begins with this sentence: "In our last chapter we gave you an idea of how the food we CAT... carries nourishment to all parts of the system where it is used in building TIP, repairing and renewing...." I assume the words were meant to be EAT and UP. And that is one sentence.
I am going to have to put this book aside, which is too bad, because I think it would be interesting if not for the many, many errors.

The book is one that I wanted to read for some time, it had some facts relating to Physic Healing and was referred to alot in this book. The information is great BUT the book needs to be revamped. There are alot of grammatical and spelling errors. The text I think has not been proof read before printing. I am more that happy to help editing if Amazon would like that done. I think if the errors and spelling was corrected and properly streamlined, the book would be a great resource for yoga and non-yoga practitioners seeking information of mind, body and spirit.

Good Advice!

The rules for healthy living laid out in this book are simple and familiar, but the way in which they are put across really does make you think more thoroughly about your body and how you treat it.
Like a lot of people I have developed bad health habits over the years. This book doesn't preach, it just explains the yogic way of looking at how your body works, with some science, and points out how best to work in harmony with yourself.
I got the kindle version after reading the hard copy. I've read this book three times through now as well as dipping in every now and again. A great buy.

The book Hatha Yoga or the Yogi Philosophy of Well-Being contained inside all the actual pages of the Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy and Oriental Occultism by the same author William Walker Atkinson of which I already have a copy. I am returning the Yoga book to Amazon to receive the correct Hatha Yoga book.

Not a great book for these times. A bit backward and challenging to discern the clarity. Can't recommend esp if you've started on your spiritual path. You probably know this stuff already
